Izuku's vision remained hazy when he opened his eyes. Black spots dancing across the bright room he found himself in.
His line of sight slowly cleared.
His body ached all over, muscles protesting the movement as he sat up.
He was in a pristine hospital room. Connected to his arm was and IV, accompanied by a heart monitor. The only noise in the room was the rhythmic beat the grew faster and more erratic as Izuku's memory cleared; leaving him alert and awake.
His back burned.
Memories of his mother flooded his mind.
He could feel himself spiral into a panic attack.
Shit.
"Okay." He whispered to himself, opting for use of sign language along the way. A skill he picked up as a child due to a deduction he made about Bakugo's quirk.
He signed as he whisper shakily.
"Ground yourself."
"I can feel a scratchy blanket, and a mattress that's kind of soft."
"I can hear a beep. Right, that's the heart monitor."
He continued walking himself through each thing calmly. Finally slowing down his breathing. He had to be calm. He had to remember exactly what was going on. Calm, collected Izuku. Not the part of him that was a traumatized loser who couldn't handle anything properly.
"The USJ. Villains attacked. I fought them. Eraserhead did too. Took a hit. Hence the hospital. Hospital gown, someone saw the scars. Shit. Okay, I need to find Eraserhead. Or somebody at least."
The other half of his brain wanted sleep, because he was so desperately tired and his body felt like he'd been hit by three busses, but he forced himself to get up nonetheless.
He grabbed a hoodie and jeans, likely the clean pair of clothes nurses had left for him when he was eventually discharged.
Tentatively getting dressed, avoiding painful bruises adorned with a gross purple and yellow combination and fairly fresh stitches.
Seems those healing quirks worked miracles. Considering the punch that Nomu gave.
The click of shoes echoed throughout the hallway from two nurses who were alerted his heart monitor stopped. But the patient had left his bed, taking the clothes and shoes with him.
When a staff member finally found him, after a group searched the large hospital building; he was looking into Aizawa's hospital room. Appearing as if he was in a daze, but his green eyes alert. The mummified man lay still on the hospital bed, his husband in a chair, seemingly asleep.
When Izuku noticed the staff, he went with them willingly. As they wanted to keep him here for final tests and check his vitals.
Izuku didn't particularly like hospitals. But it was better to comply now. After all, if he made sure everyone was safe, what was the point in worrying about himself anyway?
