Chapter 3 EEK! A Peepshow

The weather is too blustery cold for anyone to be outside but he is about to pass an adult shop. With blaring music and blinking lights that draw his gaze, he pauses briefly at the big glass window. Of course, the store is mostly X-rated paraphernalia, which should not surprise him given the neighborhood he is in, the street he is on, the city he is in. A painted-up beauty eyes him with her ocean eyes, beckons him with a sparkling finger under the buzzing neon sign that reads "Planet Janet." Something novel, he thinks. The music that was blaring into the street gets louder the deeper into the store he goes.

...And you only live forever in the lights you make

When we were young, we used to say

That you only hear the music when your heart begins to break

Now we are the kids from yesterday

He notices another glittering beauty, doing the come-hither motion with her long red painted nails. There is a wide doorway leading into a dark open space, lit only with colored disco lights. Must have missed the signs, he thinks. Curiosity piqued, slipping across the threshold into the spinning light, he investigates closer, peering inside the open door to see...

It is a fucking peepshow.

Oy! Ladies night is here! For some crazy reason it was decided that they would go out instead of staying in tonight. The Harriet's— Ronda, Helga, Jessie, Jenna, Monica, Veronica, Trixie and Ginger—were hitting up the club scene in the Red-light District on De Wallen Street. They had never been there before, and decided it was a perfect night to go check it out. Normally they would meet up at the twins—Jessie and Jenna's—house. It was s central location for all of them to meet up. They collectively decided to be more adventurous hitting up the club, rather than watching Netflix and eating Chinese takeout.

Trixie and Ginger were the first to make it over to the twins' house. Of course, Jenna is pitching a fit over what she is going to wear. Jessie, prepared and dressed, is trying to calm her twin down. Trixie couldn't care less what she wears, and Ginger is at least trying out a sparkly gold dress she just bought. Helga, dressed in all black, arrives next. She chills on the couch. She wants to save her energy, in case she has to throw down tonight; she is always up for a fight. Ronda, the queen of announcing her radio show, arrives a few moments later, chilling next to Helga. Monica and Veronica show up way later then they said they would, because they live on their own time, and it drives everyone else crazy.

Jenna finally makes her outfit choice and they are ready to go. The UBER XL is on the way. They need this night to be good; they need a break from reality. The driver picks them up within a few minutes and they are off to the club in the party district. They make their way into the building, toward the bar, and everyone gets their favorite drink to start the evening off right.

"Alright ladies! Let's have a toast to having an amazing night," Ronda says, as she lifts her beer.

"Cheers!" They all clink their glasses together as they head to the dance floor to dance the night away.

"Hey wait I got a new complaint!" Jenna waves obnoxiously, as the bartender walks away, annoyed.

"Jesus, no one listens to me," she huffs as she meets up with Jessie.

"Stop harassing the bartender, sis, and let's go dance with the girls." Jessie pulls her twin back to the dance floor.

At the front of the stage the DJ group, Dance Party Tuesday, starts playing Guns N' Rose's "Welcome to the Jungle" dance remix. The Harriets start jumping and yelling as loud as they can, "Welcome to the Jungle!" They scream out all the lyrics as the song continues.
