Chapter Six - Should they, Shouldn't they?

-3rd Person-

Serena left the Waldorf apartment and met up with Dan annoyed from her conversation with Blair and lack there of with Rose.

"She can be so infuriating. Sometimes I just wanna...." she huffs "Okay enough Blair bashing."

"No, don't stop on my account. Please, keep bashing." Dan replied sarcastically, though Serena failed to pick up on it.

"I mean obviously, we have things to talk about, and we will talk about them. But it's no big deal, right?" Dan just kept nodding and not saying anything

"Oh my god you agree with her." Serena groaned

"No, No, I don't. I don't. It's just..." Serena's phone started to ring.

"Hold on, Hold on."

"Oh, it's my mom. She's calling from Shanghi. Can I taken this?"

"Oh, yeah go." Serena stepped away to take the call "Saved by the bell." he muttered

"Are you Dan Humphrey?" Dan turned to see three Preteens looking extremely annoyed at him. Dan looked around then back at the girls

"Yeah, can I help you?"

"How could you do it?" One of them asked

"What? Sorry, I don't-"

"Get back together with Serena" the young girl cut him off "Don't you know she's just gonna lie to you again?"

"She doesn't respect you, not Like Rose does. She never will." girl 2  added

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Dan wondered

"We read about everything on Gossip girl. You're whole breakup we're on your side. Except for her. She's a Serena." The first girl glanced at the last who was a scowling blonde. "We think you should be with Rose, we've seen the way you two look at each other."

"Okay well. This is creepy and none of your business, son if you could just go, please. Just run along." he tried to shoo them away.

"Ok, i lost her. They were on some yacht with some Greek Prince." Serena explained coming back and noticing the girls "Hello."

"Yeah ignore them."

"Serena, how could you forgive him after sleeping with Georgina?" the blonde girl finally spoke.

"What?"

"This is insane. I didn't sleep with Georgina. Please go." Dan exclaimed

"But we're on your side." The first  repeated

"Not me. His mouth kissed Georgina's. Think about that the next time..." Serena cut off her mini me.

"Okay yeah, that's enough. Now I'm telling you to go. Come on get out of her, shoo." Serena moved them along. "Wow, what was that?" she laughed

"That was Gossip Girl." Dan replied not mentioning their comment about Rose. "So?"

"Maybe there are somethings that, you know, we should talk about" Serena suggested and the air around them became thick with awkwardness an tension

"Yeah. I think so." Dan agreed

"Yeah, there's some stuff I have to do now before the party. So why don't we talk..."

"We'll talk later when i pick you up." Dan offered

"Yeah, perfect." They had an awkward goodbye and separated ways.

-Rose-

I was creased with laughter. Literally rolling around on the bed in stitches. Dan had just told me about the three girls in the park.

"Have you finished."

"I...I wish...I wish I could have seen that. Oh my lord." I wiped away the tears "That is the best thing I have heard ever. Oh that just made my day."

"Glad to see you find it so amusing." he folded his arms and rolling his eyes

"I just...Oh I need some water. I need to hydrate." I left his room to see Vanessa come in "Hi, V."

"You seem happy?"

"Oh I am. Three Pre teen's cornered Dan and Serena in the park. Team Dan and Team Serena. Let him tell you, I've only just calmed down" I got myself some water and down the glass before washing it and putting it back.

Later on Dan was obsessing over the Dan, Serena threads. Vanessa look at her phone and listened to it. She must have a voicemail. She scowled as she looked down. Rufus came in holding a very large box.

"Hey." he greeted us.

"Hey." we replied

"I thought you three were leaving?" he asked us coming to stand on the other side of the kitchen island.

"Yeah we're supposed to." I answered  twisting the order of my phone on the counter.

"He's not still reading the Dan- Serena should they or shouldn't they Threads, is he?" he thought

"Last we checked, yeah." Vanessa nodded

"Something wrong?" he questioned the dark haired girl.

"I just got a message from Nate. Family drama, doesn't want to burden me. Same old story. I just want to shake him like I can handle it though, you know?" Rufus nodded in understanding. I said nothing.

"Hey, sorry. I'm ready." Dan finally came out.

"Who won on the relationship front?" I wondered

"Turns out most people think I'm an ass. but a passionate minority hold i'm just an idiot and those also hold that I should be with someone else." he breathed scratching the back of his neck

"Who?" I ask

"Doesn't matter. So are you ready?" Dan questions.

"Nate's running late, so I'll meet you there." she lies to him.

"Okay, you sure." Dan wondered but not really seen as his mind was obviously preoccupied with Serena things and should they, shouldn't they kind of thing.

"Yeah."

"You still positive you don't want me not tagging along?" Rufus wonders and I tried to hide a smile.

"Yeah, no offence, Dad, but I think you me and Serena, things are awkward enough." Dan answers

"It's not like i'd have to be a third wheel. I could tag along with Rose or i could bring a date." he offered

"That I don't mind." I shrug Dan laughs

"What?"

"It's that you having a date is funny or outside the realm of possibility. Just within the gates."

"One day I might surprise you. Go." Rufus gestured towards the door and Dan nodded grabbing his jacket

"See you there." the two of us left. I went straight for the party.

"Hey, Rose, wait up." I stopped hearing Vanessa.

"Oh you coming now."

"Yeah, as far as anyone's concerned I forgot my phone." she told me

"Whatever floats your boat" I say having a bad feeling this wouldn't end well.
