Chapter Thirty - Dealing with Chuck

Dan and I returned not that long after New Years. On our way to the airport before Christmas I had called our uncle Jack. Our fathers brother who was the black sheep of the family in some ways. Personally i never had a problem with him but I know that Dad did and he didn't want me mixing with him to much. But now that Dad was gone the likely hood was that Jack would become our very short term guardian. He was currently searching for my brother who had gone on his jollies without leaving word unlike me.

The car pulled up and we got out. I sighed looking up at the familiar building it was a few days before school started.

"So now that we're back home, I guess we're back to reality?" Dan wondered

"Yeah, I guess so. Which means I'm going to need touch base with a few people and you need to go see your sister. Have you heard anything from your Dad?"

"Only that he left to go see about some sculptures. We all just kind of missed each other." I nod "How are you feeling?"

"Refreshed, happy, calm and ready to take on the world." he chuckled

"Let's do this then."

The time was to go back to school for the last semester. My phone beeped and I looked at the text.

Got him heading for apartment - Jack

"Arissa, I'm going!" I call and grab my things

"Have a..." I slammed the doc behind me and ran down the steps past Dan

"Hi..."

"Sorry, family emergency! Love you." I sped out and hailed a taxi taking me to my Uncle and Brother. I waited outside the apartment when I saw Blair and Dortoa

"You too?" I asked

"Yeah, Hi." Blair replied offhandedly. The Bass limo pulled up out stepped Uncle Jack. He gave us a big grin and smartened his suit.

"Blair, Rose. You came to greet us."

"Not you Jack, Chuck. You said you found him." Blair replied

"Where, did he end up this time?" I wondered

"In Bangkok. He was staying at our hotel there. I mean you hear the term Den of iniquity" he answered

"Do you have him or not. Jack." I cut him off

"Of course my dear niece." he smiled and went back "Nephew of mine." he encouraged him to get out. but there was nothing I rolled my eyes I walked over he was sprawled out.

"Hold this." I handed him my Bag and grabbed my brother by the scruff. "Let's go." I hauled him out

"Tell his teachers he will be taking a personal day." Jack chimed as I took him inside. He lolled against me.

"You seem used to this Rosalie?" my Uncle questioned and I held my brother up.

"I was the out of control one, he was the lightweight. I could do this and still hold a martini. Not that I do that these days." the doors opened and I walked him into the apartment.

"Come on bro, let's get your cheep ass sober." I comment to my out of this world brother. Who stomped along as I guided him to where he needed to go

"I already called ahead."

"Yeah, thanks Jack I've got this. Why don't you call school and make something up for the morning." I flung him on the bed. I over saw humbling taken care of and sobered up.

"He should be left to sleep it off Miss Bass." I was told

"Okay." I walked out of his room and saw my Uncle

"Thank you." I breathed

"It's nothing. He's family, just like you are." he stood up and put his phone away.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I'm used to dealing with him myself." I apologised and he waved me off, to him it wasn't a big deal

"How was your trip."

"Refreshing, thank you. Um he should be sleeping it off will you keep me updated if I move fast I'm sure I can be there just in time." I glance down at my watch seeing I could make it in time for school if I moved now.

"Sure, have a good day." I grabbed my bag and headed for school When I arrived I ran inside and looked around. I saw Dan talking with Serena.

"Rose, hey." Serena smiled

"I made it, oh I really didn't think i was gonna do that" I huffed rising my hands on my knees.

"Here, have this." Dan pulled out a bottle of water and I gulped it down.

"Thanks."

"Did your Uncle find Chuck?" Serena wondered and i nodded still catching my breath back

"Unlike me he's heading for rock bottom, he'd been in Bangkok and he smelt like worn shoes." I rested against my boyfriend "This is for you." I kissed my boyfriend and pulled away.

"What was that for?"

"Being a frantic mess this morning and maybe the next couple of days. Despite his actions at the funeral. I need to get him right. Thanks to our break and your TLC I'm now in the right frame of mind to do it." I answered feeling better and more able to getting my brother back on track.

"So you're doing good, that's great to hear." Serena replied

"How's your Mom?" I wonder

"I've haven't seen her. I came straight here from the airport. I was actually just telling Dan that Aaron and I broke up." She answered

"Well good for you he was a high strung ass." I commented rolling my eyes, never was there a better break up than them two.

"Rosie!" Serena scolded

"What, you know it's the truth. And the truth is if I don't get to my locker and then to my class this will be a bad start to the new semester."

"Well then" Dan swept me off my feet and I started giggling. "Your chariot awaits" he headed away from Serena and I gave her a wave.
