Today was the day for the reading of my fathers will. I had left early and left a message for Dan that if he wasn't busy I would love his support. I sat in my brother room waiting for him to finish readying himself.

"Sister." I stood and turn to face him "I'm ready."

"Well, you're doing better than me, cause I'm not." I huff "Let's go." he offers his arm and we leave. We meet my Uncle and Blair out front.

"Let's get this over with." My brother comments

"Courage Niece and Nephew. I'm gonna be running Bass industries and the two of you are about to inherit over a billion dollars." Jack replies

"I know our father. They'll be so many strings attached. We'll look like marionettes. He wouldn't miss his last chance to put me in my place as the inadequate twin." Chuck clutches onto me tighter as if I'm his life raft.

"Chuck." I breathed shaking my head

"We go to head inside."

"Hey." we heard two familiar voices. Dan and Nate approached us.

"Thought you might need some back up." Nate smiled. I broke away from my brother to wrap my arms around my boyfriend

"I thought you wouldn't be able to make it." I mumble. I hadn't heard from him after I left the message.

"Well I'm here for you." he kissed my cheek. I took my brothers arm once more.

"Please be nice." I whisper to him. He gives a small nod to Dan who returns it.

"Let's go." we all head inside.

-------

Our other halfs and Nate weren't allowed din so it was the three of us and two lawyers.

"Now that we're all settled in please let me express my deepest condolences. As Mrs Bass is unable to be here today her interest are being represent by her counsel." I glanced over to the woman.

"Now, Charles and Rosalie, your Uncle, Jack Bass, is your closest living relative and as such has been names as your legal guardian. Are you comfortable with this?" The layer questioned

"Curfew?"

"None"

"Girls sleeping over?"

"Yes please." I rolled my eyes at the two's conversation.

"I'll allow it."

"Miss Bass."

"You're quite literally a Jackass but seen as it's not long till we turn 18. Providing you leave us be?" I comment picking my nails

"As you wish." he granted

"Fine, he can stay." I agreed. Something tells me it might come back to bite me but I would deal with that should it come around.

"Moving on. With regard to Mr Bass' personal assets, they will be put in a trust which the two of you will have access to on your 18th Birthday." We nodded in understanding.

"And Bass industries?" Jack wondered, that's all he cared about.

"Yes, I was just getting to that. 28% of the company will remain in the boards hands. And 20% stake in the company has been left to Lily Bass."

"But that still leaves 52%" Jack urged  "That's the controlling interest."

"Charles, Rosalie. Mr Bass asked me to give you these letters." i took mine but Charles didn't take his.

"If I don't read it, do I still get my inheritance?" Chuck questioned holding the envelope and glancing at it with distaste.

"Chuck." I warn.

"Well, yes." The layer answered his questioned a little taken back and confused with my brothers response. Chuck threw it on the table.

"Then I'll pass." He got up to leave. I took his and went to follow. He opened the door.

"Chuck. Is everything okay?" Blair pushed her ay in

"Chuck, these are Dad's final words." Nate and Dan followed in. Dan took my side

"Your Dad wrote you a letter. You need to read it." Blair insisted

"Aren't you curious to know?" Nate wondered

"I think I can guess. You're a disappointment of a son. I'd die of embarrassment if I wasn't already. Why do you wear so much purple." Chuck listed his thoughts on the letter

"Then you'll have the satisfaction of being right." Jack replied

"Fine, I'll read it." I rip open his

"Dear son, I know I've always been hard on you..."

"True." Chuck comments and I stop on his toe causing him to wince

"But my goal was always to prepare you for this day. To help you go from being a boy to a man..." I continued to read my fathers last words

"The Italian au pair took care of that."

"I will punch you. Don't be rude." I sass back

"Sadly there is nothing like the passing of a father to aid in this rite of passage for his son. Ultimately, I do feel that I did my job and you are prepared for this next chapter in your life. Therefore I am bequeathing you majority  of share in Bass Industries 27%"

"That doesn't make sense." I handed the letter to Blair and open mine "There is still 25%" Jack stated

"Dear Rosie, I know that many times you have scolded me for not believing in your brother. The truth is I thought that if I showed it too much, it would weaken him for this time. You have gone through many things in your life and I know it has not always been easy, but you are strong and I know you will always pull through. There is 52 percent left of my company, 27 of which will be given to your brother the rest of the 25% is yours. To help you keep a foothold in being a guiding force not just behind the company but your brother as well. I have reached this decision because I know that your passion lies somewhere else. This way you will still have whats yours but not the burden.

I love you, my daughter. love your father." I read out.

"This has got to be some sort of joke." Chuck muttered hearing Dads words to t

"No it's not" Nate confirmed

"He believed in you." Blair beamed

"That son of a bitch." Jack grumbled

"Jack!" Blair and I scolded

"No he's right. Rose I would understand. But me? My father can't be one way my whole life, then it's okay. It's nice he finally decided I'm worthy. But I don't want it. If you want it you can have it." he told our Uncle.

"Chuck, no." he left and I went to follow him but Blair stopped me

"I'll go this time." I nodded and she went to follow him. I turned to my boyfriend.

"Is it weird that despite everything going on. I just want to go to school?" Dan smiled a little and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Come on." he guided me out and we went to school. Being there was better than what was going on beyond those gates.

"So how is your life going, you said you found out what was going on?" I asked as we walked through the school

"Yeah I do and you were right. It's a doozy." He told me what was going on and why he's been avoiding Serena "I hate lying to her, we've just become friends. It's one of the reasons why we broke up in the first place."

"I know but we can't tell her, it has to stay like that. I'll see you after class.?"

"Yeah." He gave me a quick kiss and we parted ways.
