Coming back from trip to the spa I was overpowered with information that I have missed Blair's depths of despair, Nate's return to the fold, Dan and Vanessa living it up with the Vanderbuilts, Chuck telling me he now thinks there is something going on with Nate and Blair again. I knocked on the door of the Humphrey's

"Come in, Rose!" I entered

"Morning Mr Humphrey. Am I becoming that predictable?" I asked plopping my bag down on  the counter

"A little, but I would call it more a routine." He smiled kindly as he leant against the counter of the kitchen reading something.

"What are you reading?" I wonder looking down

"The latest publication of the new reporter I was telling you about. A.B Lyn. They dissect the inner mind of Manhattan."

"I thought Gossip Girl did that?" I laughed as Jenny came over I gave her a side hug.

"He's been obsessing over this new writer. He thinks this person can give Dan a run for their money" she commented

"Well who ever they are, they talk about both elite and otherwise. Besides, they gave good recommendation to the gallery."

"I have here, in my hands my first fan letter." Dan came out of his room

"What did you write it yourself?"Jenny joked

"No, No. The New Yorker forwarded it to me. Some kid read my story. He  loved it, sent me his own story. He wanted my opinion, I figured it would be good practice for Yale since the make you critique your class mates."

"Oh, a fan that gives you homework. Lovely." Jen commented

"Well I'm, happy for you. A sign of things to come." I brought him in for a sweet kiss. We pulled away

"Thank you." he then handed his Dad a large envelope.

"What's this?" Rufus wondered taking it from his son

"It's my package from Yale it came too. There is just a coupe of forms for you to fill out, and then we're done." Dan wrapped his arms around me

"Look at us. Everything's working out. You in Yale and Jenny might actually make it to 16" Rufus joked picking up the package from the elite college.

"That was a little touch and go there for a while." I chucked at their antics

"Yes but I still have 24 hours to mess up so...." Jenny trails off

"You heard it first the voice of doom, something is bound to happen now." I pointed at the younger blonde, someone says something, like that and something is bound to happen.

"Ugh, Dad. I don't smell coffee." Jenny notices

"And the waffle iron is cold." Dan remarks

"Yeah, Lily's doing breakfast today. She wants us all to talk. That includes you Rose." Rufus told us I sigh

"If I must." I dramatically replied

"Ominous" Dan commented

"Or delicious. You know how many types of Jam they have, a lot" We head towards the door, Vanessa walked in.

"Hey V, Bye V." I chime looping my arm through Jenny

"Hey."

"I'll catch you up." Dan called as we left.

-----

"Lily, I can't believe you made us breakfast." Dan brought out the orange juice.

"Oh I just toasted some bagels and fried some bacon." she brushed of the compliment like it was nothing.

"And bought jam" Jenny chimed

"You and Jam, Jenny you're obsessed. That's all she's been talking about since we knew we were coming over." I laughed shaking my head.

"It's not big deal." Lily smiled

"If you've turned on a burner, it's a big deal." Rufus kissed her

"You are really committed to making this work. I'm proud of you mom." Eric complimented just as Chuck came out. He kissed my cheek

"Charles are you staying for breakfast?" Lily wondered

"I have an appointment. Rose can fill me in later. Good Morning, sister." he greeted me and addressing our step mother.

"Morning, Chuck."

"What does Chuck Bass do as 8 am? It's not like you work out." Dan commented

"I do my cardio in the evenings. Morning is for business, for which I am late. So if you'll excuse me." he was going to leave.

"Does this feel like a sitcom?" Eric wondered

"Ha, every day kid. Every day." I winked at him causing him to chuckle

"More like a reality show." Dan added making me smile.

"Good then I can vote you off." Chuck commented and I slapped his chest.

"Ha. It would almost be scary if it wasn't wearing plaid." Dan comments back. Serena came in holding a bag, to early for retail therapy.

"You guys didn't start without me did you? You didn't tell her yet?" Serena placed a couple of bags on the counter

"What? Tell who what?" Jenny wondered

"Well we wanted to tell you in person, all of you." Lily started

"We are planning  a sweet 16 party for you here tomorrow night." Serena chimed. Oh so that what all of this was about. And here comes the impeding doom feeling.

"Fantastic caterer and beautiful flowers." Lily went on as I grabbed some bacon and started to much on it

"DJ. The perfect guest list. We wanted it to be a surprise though." Serena beamed

"We heard you had one of those last year. It didn't go so well."

"Oh Jenny cake." Eric and I spoke jokingly

"That's why this year I was more than happy to delegate to people who know better. So what do you think?" Rufus asked his daughter

"Uh, wow...Uh" she struggled to find words Oh no, I smell trouble brewing even more now

"You're not excited?" Dan wondered

"No, I am. I totally am. But, okay, look. Last year I would've killed for a party like this but this year. I don't know things just seem. Different. Like, okay. I was just kind of hoping that it would be us and Vanessa and Jonathan and maybe those two girls from my them class who didn't light my hair on fire that one time. I'm sorry is that okay?"

"Yeah. I mean maybe you should try the cake first.." Serena replied

"Of course it's okay. It's your birthday. It's whatever you want." Lily added trying not to seem hurt or offended.

"Yeah. No, it's not a problem. I'll just cancel" Serena looked crushed

"I can make my famous chilli" Rufus offered

"Maybe some board games." Dan continued

"And Karaoke, which I promise we'll keep your Dad away from." I added with a small smile

"Yeah, yeah. But really thank you so much for thinking of me. It means a lot."

"We should probably get to school." Dan says. I grab some food to go and most of us disperse away from the kitchen
