Chapter Forty Eight - Yale Have to Work for it.

Dan and I had been shopping and I had carried the bags back to his apartment. Dan opened the door.

"Hey, Wes. Is that the science fair project?" Dan wondered as we entered

"Hey, Wes." I greeted he nodded to us.

"Yeah. We're tracking their air quality on plant growth" Jenny informed us "One of these was grown in our apartment the other in Wes' country house" she pointed to the dead one.

"Apparently tree's do not grown in Brooklyn" I put the bags down and took my coat off

"I better take off. Call you later?"Wes asked and I shared a small smile with my boyfriend

"Yeah." Wes then took off.

"I hope for the sake of science that relationship is strictly professional." Dan commented, I laughed slightly.

"Of course. But I'm working on it."

"Yes girl. He's actually cute." we high fives each other. I saw Rufus come over he was talking on the phone

"No I get it. Rent trumps art. Well let me know if you change you're mind." he hung up "Nobody wants to buy art right now."

"Look, I'm the one with the expensive Yale tuition. Let me help. There must be a job on Craigslist that doesn't involve dealing or nudity." Dan offered

"Dan, I have it under control. Your priority is school. I'm off to Lily's. She wants to go shopping for a table, a lamp. I'm not sure. Bye" he left

"Bye."

"Good luck."

"It stats with a table but then it end up turning into shoe shopping." I comment

"I don't know why he's being so stubborn about this"

"Because he's your Dad, he had a plan and now that plan has gone to shit. Give him a moment to freak out, talk out and then chill out." I tell him

"You know Wes' mom owns a catering company" Jenny suggests

"Catering? That defiantly was not at the top of my list." I grab an apple and bite into it "But yeah, if you don't mind asking her"

"Not at all because then i can ask him to come to dinner with me as a thanks for being so cool to my brother." Jenny grabs her phone

"Smart girl. You'll go far. Now I have to find an outfit for tonight." I kissed Dan's cheek "Love you, bye Jenny"

I was taken to the Seder with Lily and Rufus. To be fair I have no idea why but here I am walking out of the elevator.

"Eleanor, thank you for doing this." Lily kissed Eleanor's cheek

"Please, I was very happy that you invited yourself. Cyrus' mother hates me. Another friendly face is welcome. Hello, Rufus, Rosalie. Have you met... never mind." Eleanor left and I was going to talk to Cyrus when I saw Dan coming down the stairs

"Oh no." he saw us

"Dan, what are you doing here?" Rufus questioned. Dan looked at me and I shrugged. I had nothing

"I'm here because..."

"I invited him, for Rosie's benefit of course. Right Rosie?" Serena came down, huh I didn't even know she was back from Spain.

"Yeah, for me. Such a nice adoptive sister. I'm going to talk to Cyrus" I smile "Cause it might be less awkward." I mumbled and then kissed my boyfriends cheek and went to talk to Cyrus.

"Hello Cyrus."

"Rosalie, you look wonderful." he hugged me "This is my mother Romona and this is Allen Sevy he loves art."

"What a coincidence my boyfriend's Dad owns a gallery. In fact I came with him and my...well she's..."

"Lily adopted Rosalie and her brother after their fathers death." Cyrus helped me out

"Nice to see you." I shook their hands. Serena came over to me.

"Do I even want to know?" I leant in and questioned her

"Which part?" she wondered

"I already know about Dan, he's working and doesn't want his father to know. You?" I wondered

"No, you don't and it's complicated." she told me and I nodded

"Well, tonight is a show and we better hope to pull it off. You ready?"

"As I'll ever be." she breathed and we went to take our seats. Let the performance of a lifetime begin.
