Christabel had managed to pretty much ignore the twins for a couple of days already, but she knew it wasn't going to last much longer. She knew the twins were going to figure out a way to corner her somewhere and keep her from getting away until they were finally able to have a real conversation with her.
After Potions, Christabel headed towards the Slytherin common room, since she was given a free period without any of the other Slytherins. This free time was given to her after a meeting with Dumbledore, Mcgonagall, and Snape. Snape didn't seem as compliant with the arrangement, but Mcgonagall and Dumbledore were not backing down.
When she was close to the dungeons, someone grabbed her robes and yanked her backwards. She stumbled slightly, before turning around with her arms crossed, and an angry expression on her face. When she turned around, she came face to face with Fred and George Weasley.
"What are you two doing? Aren't you both supposed to be in class?" Christabel asked, as the twins smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah, but we needed to talk to you. We wanted to say sorry, but we weren't intentionally ignoring you. We went to Romania for a vacation--" Fred began, scratching the back of his neck with an awkward smile.
"And to visit Charlie--" George added, as he kept the sheepish smile on his face.
"But we didn't ignore you on purpose. It was an accident, honest," The twins said in unison, as they stared at her with sorrowful looks on their faces.
"Promise you both won't do it again?" Christabel asked, wanting to hurry up the conversation, so she could get to Amara before the next class ended.
"Promise," They replied in unison, and nodded quickly.
"Fine, but if you guys do it again, I'm not going to forgive you," She said, and they nodded once again.
As if they knew she needed to leave already, the twins hugged the blonde and then ran off to plan more pranks to play on other students and professors. As soon as the twins were out of sight, Christabel ran as fast as she could to the Slytherin common room. Once she was inside, she went straight to her dorm and walked towards the bassinet where Amara was sleeping.
Christabel smiled down at her daughter, watching as the young girl slowly woke up and stretched her arms. Amara rubbed her eyes, as she looked up at her mother and yawned silently. Christabel reached into the bassinet and picked up the baby, holding her to her chest, as she cooed at the young child.
"Are you hungry, 'Mara?" Christabel cooed, as she sat down on her bed and began to nurse her baby.
Christabel loved her daughter, more than anything in the world, but she wished she didn't have to keep Amara a secret. She wished she could tell Fred and George. She wished she could tell just about anyone, but she couldn't. She knew if she told anyone, there was a chance people who didn't need to know would find out.
Christabel knew that if anyone found out about Amara--who really didn't need to know--they would cause Christabel and Amara to be in danger. There was also a potential chance that Draco could be in danger if someone found out about Amara. She also didn't want her father being even more disappointed than he already was. The problem was not her father finding out, it was her father's associates finding out.
She wanted Fred and George to know about Amara, since the secret was so hard for her to keep. She had never met Mrs Weasley, but she figured Mrs Weasley would be more supportive of her than her own father was. She knew most adults were disappointed in her, well, until they learn her story. She also kind of wished her mother was around to support her, or at least meet Amara.
Amara was born close to a month ago, but Narcissa still hadn't come to meet Amara. Christabel felt terrible, but she knew her mother wasn't going to go against her father, even though she claimed to really love her daughter. She wished she could just send her father to Azkaban, that way her mother, brother, daughter, and herself could live happily, but she knew she couldn't do that. No matter how terrible Lucius was, Narcissa still seemed to love him. Hell, even Draco seemed to have some kind of adoration for their father, though he also seemed to hate the man when he turned out to be the reason Christabel left the Manor before she could give birth to Amara.
Christabel figured the reason Draco wanted to be around their father, was for some type of male acceptance. She knew he could get acceptance from any male in this school, but he really wanted Lucius to accept him. Christabel had always hated Lucius, but after he kicked her out while she was pregnant, she really began to hate him more than she had before. He was the reason she had such a hard time trusting anyone.
"Maybe you staying a secret won't last too long. I think I might tell Fred and George. What do you think, Amara?" Christabel cooed, as she looked down at her small daughter.
The young child cooed, and almost seemed to smile, which made Christabel's heart flutter. Her daughter seemed to agree with her, telling her that she should tell the twins. Christabel wasn't sure exactly when she'd tell them, but she knew she wanted to tell them. Maybe she'd tell them once Amara got a little older. She wanted to wait at least a couple of months, only for the reason that she needed to fully trust them once again. Though she didn't exactly distrust them for ignoring her, especially after explaining to her as to why they hadn't answered any letters, but she still wanted to give it some time, just to make sure she could trust that they'd still be around. She just hoped she wouldn't be unhappy with her choices later on...
