Chapter Six

The weeks were passing like days. Summer had disappeared, and Christmas was fast approaching. Christabel was a bit sad knowing that she'd have to spend Christmas by herself, but she was glad to at least have Amara to spend her Christmas with. She loved her daughter to the moon and back, but she felt so alone. Christabel hadn't seen Draco in over a week, each day she didn't see Draco, the more depressed she'd feel.

Lucius had gotten word from Draco that he had met Amara. Draco hadn't meant to tell Lucius about Amara, but he was so excited to meet the little girl that he accidentally told him about her. After Lucius had found out about Draco being around Christabel and Amara, he forbade him from seeing them again, and threatened to hurt all three of them if he were to hear that Draco was around them again.

Christabel had wondered what she had done to upset Draco, seeing as he never told her why he was ignoring them. In hindsight, Christabel should've known Lucius would forbade Draco from seeing her or his niece, but she didn't think he'd find out about their interactions. She had explicitly told Draco to keep everything a secret from Lucius, so she didn't know that he had told their father by complete accident.

Draco missed his sister and niece, but he couldn't chance them getting hurt because of his feelings. He hated feeling, but it wasn't something he could just turn off. Everytime he looked over at his sister and seen the hurt or sad look on her face, he felt his heart break just that much more. He wished to talk to her once again, to explain to her what happened, but he knew he couldn't. Matter of fact, he was almost positive that his father had spies watching him to make sure he didn't speak to his sister again.

He wanted to stay at Hogwarts during Christmas to stay with his sister and niece, but now there was no way in hell that his father would ever let that happen. Christabel was close to cracking. If she didn't speak to her brother soon, she'd fall of the edge. She didn't believe she'd be able to get through her rough patch without him. Yes, she loved her daughter more than life itself, but her brother still meant quite a lot to her as well. She needed them both in her life for her to be able to cope with her father practically disowning her.

Fred and George could tell something was wrong with their best friend, but they were worried whatever was bothering her might be their fault. Fred couldn't think of anything they did wrong, but George didn't want to dwell on the possibilities. After a week had passed, they began to realize how much the younger Malfoy seemed to purposely avoid his sister. Once they realized that Draco avoiding Christabel was hurting her so much, they decided they had to intervene.

"Malfoy, what have you done to Bel?" Fred asked, as he and George approached Draco while he was sitting by the Black Lake.

"None of your business," Draco retorted, as he tried to walk away from the twins.

"Why are you avoiding her? What is your problem?" George demanded, causing the young blonde to sigh.

"I'm protecting my family," He spat, before he harshly brushed past the two redheads.

"What does he mean? Bel is his family, isn't she?" George commented, causing Fred to nod.

"Of course she is, Georgie. I think there's something they're hiding from us," Fred replied, making George nod.

"Do you think that's why she seems to be gone so much?" George asked, and Fred shrugged.

"Don't know, maybe," Fred commented, as they began to walk towards the Gryffindor common room.

"We should find out what they're hiding," George stated, and Fred grinned.

"Good idea, Georgie. We can get answers out of her," Fred replied, as George nodded.

"If she'll give them to us," George began, before stopping mid step causing Fred to turn towards him,"Are you going to ask her to the Yule Ball, Freddie?" George asked, and Fred smirked.

"I forgot about the Yule Ball. It'll be the perfect time to ask her what she's hiding," Fred commented, making George nod.

"You have a week's time to ask her to the Ball. She's missed everything to do with the Tournament so far; don't even think she knows about it, but we've got to get her back to how she was before," George said, and Fred nodded.

"Agreed," He replied, as George said the password to get into the Gryffindor common room.

Draco was angry that the twins had confronted him. He couldn't believe two Weasleys could be so foolish and brave at the same time. He wouldn't admit it, but he was happy that his sister had them though. If he couldn't be around, at least they'd be there for her. He wished he could be there for her, but alas he could not, so she needed someone. He just hoped that she would tell them about Amara.

As Draco stormed into the Slytherin common room and practically stomped his way to the boys' dorms, Christabel watched him with a sad expression on her face. She was going to finally confront him, but she didn't have the chance to do so. Instead of waiting in the common room, Christabel went back to her room and sat down on her bed. Amara was asleep, so she didn't have nothing to really attend her time.

Looking out of the window, Christabel stared at the full moon that had been rising for the last twenty minutes. The moon seemed to cast an eerie glow into her room, but she didn't care. She loved the moon, it was quite relaxing to her. She wished she could go outside and sit under the stars and stare at them all, but she couldn't. She was a mother now and she needed to act like one. Amara was soon to be four months old, seeing as she was born in late August, and Christabel knew the baby would be teething soon. Christabel was scared to deal with the new changes, but she had to be a mother. She had to be a mother, even if that meant she'd lose everything in the process...

A/N: I hope you liked this chapter. I was going to start this book in Prisoner of Azkaban, but I changed my mind. Since technically she and the twins were going to be younger than 16, I wanted them to be exactly 16 for this story. I was going to change their age for story purposes, but I decided against it last minute.

Love you guys!
