"This visit is definitely a surprise," Mrs. Weasley commented,"What brings you here?" She asked, as her son sat down next to Christabel and Amara.
"Oh, I was around and I decided to pop in," He replied, giving a smile to his mother.
Bill and Christabel bumped shoulders, and they glanced at each other. When Bill's eyes locked with Christabel's, he could tell that she was nervous almost instantly. Giving her a subtle smile, he placed his hand on hers under the table for a moment, and gave it a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
"Mum, Dad, I have something to tell you guys," Bill commented, before he looked over at Christabel and Amara,"or rather, we have something to tell you guys," He added, motioning between him and Christabel.
"What's on your mind, Bill?" His father asked, chuckling slightly,"You look a little nervous there," He voiced, making Bill chuckle nervously.
Bill and Christabel glanced at each other once more, and with small smiles, they finally agreed they were ready to tell Bill's parents.
"Mum, Dad, Chrissy and I are dating," Bill said, deciding to just blurt out the obvious and tell them the truth without tiptoeing into it.
Mr. and Mrs. Weasley sat silently for a moment, glancing between Bill and Christabel. Mrs. Weasley didn't seem to change her expression, but Mr. Weasley's eyes had widened drastically after a moment, before a smile appeared on his face.
"That's lovely!" He exclaimed, but Mrs. Weasley smacked his arm.
"Arthur," She scolded, causing him to let his smile drop as he looked to his wife,"We need to talk to them about this," She said, trying to be quiet, but the couple could hear her as if she was talking at a regular volume.
Christabel felt a frown come to her own lips, as butterflies erupted in her belly from the anticipation of disgust and resentment from Mrs. Weasley. Sirius frowned as well, but he kept his mouth shut to see what Mrs. Weasley was going to say to Christabel and Bill.
"Bill, Chrissy," Mrs. Weasley began, pulling their attention to her,"are you two sure about this relationship?" She asked, frowning at the two,"I mean, I'm not saying you're a bad person, Chrissy, but you aren't the same as Bill. You're way younger, you're just out of Hogwarts, and well, you're—" She began, but she was unsure of how to continue.
"I'm what?" Christabel asked, feeling her lip tremble,"I'm a Slytherin? A Malfoy? A single teen mum?" She questioned, feeling tears start to prickle at her eyes.
"I wasn't going to say that, but, I mean, if you can see it, than why can't Bill see—" She began, but Sirius cut her off.
"Molly, you need to stop!" Sirius snapped,"Chrissy is a wonderful, smart, caring, and beautiful young girl. She doesn't need to be compared to the people she isn't. Her and Amara are good people, and if you can't see that, well than you can leave my house and never come back, unless it's to apologize," He stated, causing Mrs. Weasley to gasp.
"Sirius!" She exclaimed, but Sirius simply shook his head.
"They're my family, and I will support and defend them until my last breath," He retorted, making the woman frown.
"Sirius is right, Mum," Bill commented, causing Mrs. Weasley to turn to her son with a shocked expression,"Chrissy and Amara are perfect to me. I would do anything for them, as they would do for me. For weeks Chrissy and I have been happy together, and I don't want to ruin this relationship because you can't see passed her past and her family. She doesn't have the same beliefs as them, and she hasn't tried to change any of her or my beliefs because of her parents," Bill stated, biting his lip as he glanced at Christabel for a moment,"I love Chrissy, Mum. Her and Amara are my world, and I can't lose them," He added, causing Christabel's heart to skip a beat.
Mrs. Weasley stared at her son for a moment, her eyes set in a glare, but her lips never moved to display any anger or disdain. When Mr. Weasley realized Mrs. Weasley wasn't speaking, he sighed and turned to his wife.
"Molly, Bill and Chrissy deserve to be happy. If they're happy together—if Bill is happy with being a father to Amara—we should let him. He's a good man, Molls. Chrissy and Amara have been a joy in our lives, you've even said so a few times, so we shouldn't change our mind just because she and Bill are together. We always had a feeling she was going to become a Weasley eventually, and she chose the most mature and caring son that we have. The two of us should give them our blessing, and be happy for their relationship and what could come of it," Arthur said, making his wife sigh.
"You're right," She murmured, before turning to the couple,"I'm sorry for being so harsh, I just don't want either of you to rush into a relationship that you aren't ready for. I don't want you both to feel like a relationship is important because Amara needs a father," Mrs. Weasley commented,"I have a feeling you two being together should've been obvious, and I'll support you both, but don't ever feel like you have to force the relationship. You two are good together, and your happiness is all that matters," She added, which had surprised Christabel.
Christabel didn't understand how Mrs. Weasley could change her opinion and attitude towards the situation so fast, but she wasn't going to argue. If Mrs. Weasley was going to accept them, even if it was fake at first, Christabel was going to accept it. She and Bill were happy, and she wasn't going to ruin that. Mrs. Weasley would eventually come to terms with everything, even if it took a while. Christabel just hoped her fake happiness wouldn't try to bite them later on...
