"An interrogation isn't really what I had in mind for the day," Christabel commented, and Sirius rolled his eyes.
"I can promise you, if this was an interrogation, it would look very different," He replied, causing her to smirk with amusement.
"You've probably been in enough to know." She joked, and he playfully glared at her.
"So, my first question," He sighed,"What do you plan to do with Amara if something bad happens and you have to fight?" He asked, causing the girl to sigh as well.
"I don't know," She answered,"I guess I would have to leave her here, and hope she's okay with someone or by herself while I fight to protect her and everyone else."
"What if something happens to you?" Sirius asked, though the words didn't even want to leave his mouth.
"Then she'll go to Bill. He and I have talked about that, but only briefly," She said, and Sirius nodded.
"And if something happens to both of you?" He asked, making her clench her jaw for a moment.
"Then I hope you feel like raising a baby, Sirius. You'd be the only other person I trust," She answered, and he nodded.
"You know I'd do anything for you and Amara. You two are my family," He replied, causing her to smile.
"And I, you, Sirius," She murmured, giving him a nod.
"I hope you don't mind me asking," Sirius smiled sheepishly,"but do you and Bill plan to marry?" He asked, and she frowned.
"I'm not sure. We never talked about it in detail. I mean, we mentioned it a couple times, but never where we could get a definite answer," She smiled to herself,"I want to marry him, if that answers your question."
"Does he plan to adopt Amara as his own?"
"I hope so," She sighed,"if not, I guess that's fine. I feel like it'd be a more proper family if he adopted her as his own though."
"Bill is a good guy, Chrissy," Sirius commented,"I know he'll adopt her as his own, I just wanted to see what you thought."
"Where did this come from? Why are you asking all these questions?"
"Truth be told, Chrissy, I've been having these dreams. I don't think they're telling my future, but I can't help but to worry about it. I'm worried that something might happen to one of us, and Amara would be down one family member, or possibly two. That scares me, and I just wanted to know what you planned to do, so I had more peace of mind about my dreams," Sirius replied, and Christabel frowned.
"Nothing is going to happen to any of us," Christabel stated,"I won't let it happen. Amara will never lose anyone she loves, and I'll make sure of it."
"You can't go around making promises like that, Christabel. That's what gets people killed," He scolded, and Christabel simply narrowed her eyes.
"I will, because there's nothing that will stop me from protecting my family," She replied, before she stood up and left the room.
Christabel felt frightened by Sirius's words just a bit. He had revealed that he was frightened and worried, which made her feel the same way. The entire time she knew Sirius, he was never easily scared or worried. He simply went through life as it came, but this seemed to be different, and she was going to try and fix it as much as she possibly could.
Weeks later, Sirius's words seem to really hit home. Christabel and Bill were given the news that Mr. Weasley had been attacked, and was now at St. Mungos. Christabel sent Bill with Mrs. Weasley, as she stayed home to speak to the kids once they arrived. When they finally arrived, they were frantic and demanded answers.
"You guys will know things when I know things," Christabel had snapped, and she felt awful once she did so.
She didn't mean to snap at them. Their father was in the hospital, and nobody knew how he was doing. When they finally got word that he was alive, Christabel felt a little better. She still felt guilty for snapping, but they were practically yelling at her and Sirius.
"Are you guys hungry?" Christabel asked, trying to calm down the situation.
"What are you making?" Ron asked, causing the woman to smile.
"I was thinking cookies," She answered,"it's a little too late for anything else."
"Cookies sound good," Ginny commented, her voice low and hoarse from her emotions.
Christabel spent an hour making cookies, while Sirius tended to Amara when she woke up for a new nappy. By the time the kids had calmed down and eaten some cookies, Christabel had gotten a couple of them to go to bed. Fred and George refused to go to bed, and Christabel wasn't going to force them.
They stayed up with her and Sirius. She stayed up, just in case Bill came home and needed her. Sirius stayed up just in case anyone needed something so he could help. The man was honestly very sweet and caring. Christabel wished life hadn't been so hard on him. He didn't deserve all the things he went through on a day to day basis for so many years in his life.
Mrs. Weasley ended up coming home the next morning. Bill had come with her, and asked Christabel to go back to the hospital with him, after he had a nap for about an hour. The woman agreed, since she didn't want him up there alone. The others were going to be visiting later, once Mrs. Weasley had gotten some sleep and some food.
Christabel hoped for good news when she went to see Mr. Weasley with Bill. Nobody was ready for bad news, especially so close to Christmas. It was a time to celebrate, not have to mourn over a loved one because the Death Eaters were so cruel. Christabel really hoped that Mr. Weasley made a full recovery...
