We were were back on the beach and this time in our Narnian clothes. As we ran up the beach, we saw two soldiers trying to drown a dwarf. Susan quickly drew her bow and fired.
"Drop him!" She ordered.
The dwarf mumbled something through his gag before the men tossed him into the water. The boys ran into the water while Susan and I made sure they didn't do anything else. One tried to shoot at us with a crossbow but Susan shot them and I sent one of my arrows at the boat which created a web of green vines as another warning. The other soldier jumped into the water and swam away.
Peter and Edmund came back up to shore with the boat and the Dwarf. Lucy quickly drew her dagger and cut his bonds.
"Drop him?" The dwarf exclaimed throwing his gag onto the ground. "That's the best you can come up with?"
"A simple thank you would suffice," Susan replied.
"They were doing just fine drowning me without your help," he grumbled.
"Maybe we should have let him," Peter suggested.
I smacked him on the arm and frowned disapprovingly. He just shrugged.
"Why were they trying to kill you anyway?" Lucy asked.
"Where have you been for the last few hundred years?" The dwarf sighed.
"It's a bit of a long story," Lucy explained as Susan passed Peter his sword.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," the dwarf gasped. "You're it? You're the Kings and Queens and the Guardian of Old?"
"At your service, sir," I smiled.
"High King Peter, the Magnificent," Peter said, extending his hand.
I laughed, remembering the last time he tried doing that.
"You could've left off the last bit," Susan pointed out.
The dwarf chuckled, "Probably,"
"You might be surprised," Peter drew his sword.
"Oh, you don't want to do that, boy," the dwarf warned.
"Not me, him," Peter nodded at Edmund who drew his sword.
I instantly put a hand on my sword out of habit. Susan put a hand on my shoulder.
"Edmund's going to be fine, Layla, he's the best swordsman in Narnia," she assured me.
I released my grip on my sword. "I'm sorry, it's a habit."
She grinned at me and we turned to watch the dual.
The dwarf took the sword but it was a little heavy for him so the point dropped onto the sand. Edmund looked at us and I nodded slowly still at attention.
The dwarf swung the sword at Edmund and the fight began. He ducks and the dwarf hit him in the forehead.
"Edmund!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Oh are you alright?" The dwarf taunted.
They resume the fight. The dwarf swung for his legs but Edmund jumped over them. His swings getting stronger and soon Peter's sword flew out of the dwarf's grip.
The dwarf plopped onto the sand. "Beards and bedsteads! Maybe that horn did work after all."
"What horn?" Susan asked.
"Your horn, of course, dummy," I retorted.
Susan just glared at me so I went over to Edmund to check up on him.
"I'm fine, Layla, really," he assured me with a smile as I tried checking his forehead. "No injury to report."
"Good," I replied. I then turned to the dwarf. "What's your name?"
"Trumpkin," he replied
"Ok, Trumpkin, can you lead us to the Narnians?" I requested.
"Of course, Guardian."
