"I don't remember this way at all," Susan spoke up.
"That's the problem with girls, you can't carry a map in your heads," Peter replied from the front were he led us.
I had originally offered to lead since I was connected to nature but Peter ignored my request and took the lead. Something was definitely wrong.
"That's because our heads have something in them," Lucy deadpanned.
"You're forgetting that I am the map," I retorted.
"I wish he'd just listen to the D.L.F and Layla," Susan sighed.
"D.L.F?" Edmund asked behind us.
"Dear Little Friend," Lucy smiled, looking up at Susan.
"Oh, that's not patronizing, is it?" Trumpkin asked.
I laughed, "not at all."
We entered a rock passageway with many tunnels. Based on what the forest told me, we were going straight.....in the wrong direction.
"I'm not lost," Peter tried convincing himself.
"No, you're just going the wrong way," Trumpkin corrected.
"You said you last saw Caspian in the Shuddering Woods, and the quickest way there is to cross at the River Rush," Peter responded.
"But, unless I'm mistaken, there's no crossing in these parts," Trumpkin replied.
"That explains it then, you're mistaken," Peter snapped.
We continued to walk through the passage and the forest til we came to a gorge. We stooped and looked down the deep chasm to the river bellow.
"You see, over hundreds of years, water eroded the earth's soil....." Susan started explaining.
"Oh, shut up," Peter grumbled.
"Is there a way down?" Edmund asked.
"Yeah, falling," Trumpkin deadpanned.
"No need for that," I grinned, raising my hands and vines started to wrap around my arms.
The others grinned.
"Come, there's a ford at Beruna. Any of you mind swimming?" Trumpkin turned around.
"Better that then walking," Susan replied.
"Maybe you should try swinging, it's highly entertaining," I quipped.
She rolled her eyes then they turned and started walking off while Lucy looked back.
"Aslan?" she asked. I felt the grass move.
"It's Aslan!" She turned to us. "It's Aslan over there! Can't you see? He's right over...." When she looked back, he was gone and the grass stilled. Lucy's smile faded. "there."
"Do you see him now?" Trumpkin asked.
"I'm not crazy," Lucy replied. "He was there. He wanted us to follow him."
"I'm sure there are any number of lions in this wood, just like that bear," Peter said.
"I think I know Aslan when I see him," Lucy said pointedly.
"Look, I'm not about to jump off a cliff after someone who doesn't exist," Trumpkin told us.
"She's not wrong you know," I stated.
"Why wouldn't I have seen him?" Peter asked.
"Maybe because you weren't looking," I huffed.
Peter sent me an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Lu, Layla."
