I led the boys out of the How as the Narnians cheered.

"If it should appear to be going poorly," Miraz looked at the weapon in Glozelle's hands.

Glozelle looked at the crossbow. "Understood, your majesty," he replied. "The Guardian is a powerful one though, very protective of the Kings and Queens."

Miraz scowled at his general clearly not knowing that I knew everything.

I gulped, Peter better be careful.

We arrived at the dueling place where Caspian and Glenstorm were. Edmund handed Peter his sword who drew it out of his sheath.

I handed him his helmet. "Hey, please don't die," I pleaded, squeezing his arm gently.

He gave me a small peck. "I'll try not to," he replied.

He stepped out into the center and he and Miraz began to circle one another.

"There's still time to surrender," Miraz taunted.

"Well, feel free," Peter quipped dryly.

"How many more must die for the throne?" Miraz asked.

"Just one," Peter replied. He shoved down his face guard and the duel began.

After a few minutes of watching the fight, I sensed trouble in the forest. Susan and Lucy were being followed. I leaned over to Caspian next to me.

"The Telmarines are after Susan and Lucy, could you provide some assistance? I need to be here."

Caspian nodded.

"You can take Glimmer," I offered.

"Thanks Layla," he replied and ran off.

I turned my attention back to the duel. A cheer arose from the Narnians as Peter dodged one of Miraz's swings. I knew I couldn't intervene and it took all my willpower not to. Peter was doing fine until Miraz struck Peter's head causing his helmet to fly off. He let out a pained cry as the force of the blow nearly dislocated his head.

I bit my lip and clenched my fists, trying hard not to set off an earthquake.

Miraz swung at the Peter's throat next but he dodged it, making his chainmail hood fly off. At Miraz's second swing to Peter's throat, Peter ducked under his shield and took a good swipe at Miraz's thigh and making a deep cut making Miraz cry out from the impact. This gave Peter a much needed pause.

I saw Miraz shoot his General a look and vines started to wrap around my arms.

Peter growled at Miraz, ready for his strike. Miraz swung his sword low knocking Peter's legs out from underneath him which caused him to flip over and land on his back on the hard ground. I tensed up. Peter quickly scrambled back up and lunged at Miraz. Both of them continued to strike and block each other. Then, Miraz tripped Peter again, causing him to fall on his back again. He stepped on Peter's shield, which was still buckled on, and made his arm snap backwards painfully. Peter yelled in agony as we watched on helplessly. Edmund gulped and I took a deep breath. Please don't die.

Peter swung at Miraz with his good arm to make him step off his shield. Once he was free, Peter rolled away from Miraz while deflecting Miraz's blows until he was against a pillar. Quickly, Peter swung his legs around, knocking Miraz off balance and tumbling to the ground. Peter took the chance to get up.

Galloping hoofs interrupted the fight. Peter looked up and I saw that Caspian returned with Susan.

"Does his highness need a respite?" Miraz sneered.
