Chapter 7

P.O.V/ Nicole Henderson:

It's December 26, 2010; The day after Christmas and it wasn't the same without Mom it just didn't feel right so we haven't opened any presents. She has been missing for over a week and I can't think or rest because I'm worried to death that Kelly has hurt her or worse that she may be dead and I can't even imagine what my life would be like if I lost my mom... I know I'd never be the same. Dad and Kim have searched for her tirelessly and have come up empty. Dad is distraught, Eric isn't Eric; We can't function without her. Last night before I went to sleep I heard my Dad listening to an old song in his and Mom's bedroom. The door was cracked so I peeked in he was sitting in the floor looking through family albums while the song played as he sang along " I pray to God you'll give me one more chance girl, I'll be there for you these five words I swear to you... When you breathe I want be the air for you, I'll be there for you... I'd live and I'd die for you... I'd steal sun from the sky for you... Words can't say what love can do.. I'll be there for you..." He is crying as he takes a drink of his bud light beer. I see Eric out the corner of my eye standing behind me as we look at Dad. He senses us and looks over he paused the song on his iPhone and said through tears " It's okay guys come in"... We walk in and I sit down on the left side of him while Eric sits down on the right side of him. Dad said as he looked down at a picture of Mom " I just miss her so much..." He looks at the picture of her at her high school graduation in 1985 when she was eighteen he turns the page and she is at her college graduation she went from 1985-1989 she graduated with a nursing degree then went back to be an APRN aka Nurse Practitioner.  She went from 1989-1991. He turned the page finding her APRN graduation. Dad said " She worked so hard to put herself through college twice so she could make her dream come true. She is a independent and very intelligent woman sometimes I think why did she fall for a lousy vampire like me I always thought she was out of my league but she told me to stop and that she loves me just the way I am"... He cries after he said that. I put my hand on the side of his head and pull him on my shoulder. He raises his head up after a minute or two. He said to us " Don't be like me... I'm no role model I couldn't control myself one night and I lost your mom". I said " Too late for me seems like I am just like you I did the same exact thing and lost Riley in the process but I also destroyed Dani and Carly's relationship in the process I'm no better".. Dad said " Everyone makes mistakes but you are still young and Riley will eventually come around it may not be tomorrow but she will sweetie just give her time". He looks at Eric and said " Have you done anything like that?" He said " No I haven't I guess I'm different". Dad said " You're like your mom you remind me so much of her". Eric said " You and Nicole aren't bad you just made mistakes. Mom and Riley will come around because they love you". Dad said " I hope so son". I said " Yeah me too"

That morning when I woke up I texted Riley " Good morning beautiful". but she didn't text back. After I showered and got dressed in my room. I put on a black laced bra with black laced panties, A maroon t-shirt that says Finway Wrestling on the front white letters on the back it says Henderson across the top of the shoulders, a pair of dark blue Stetson boot cut blue jeans for women, a pair of Air Jordan ones they are the same color as Carly's maroon and black except they don't have the gold pendants on the shoelaces. I walked over to my dresser that had the mirror attached to the back but I broke it. I pick up my hairbrush and walk over to the stand up mirror over by the big wooden office desk and the double windows I brush my hair out then lay the brush down on the office desk. I walk around the foot of the bed past the TV stand and the dresser to the coat racket that is nailed into the wall I pull off my black colored blue jean jacket of the metal hook and put it on. I walk out in the hallway and I see Eric walk out of his bedroom across from mine. He is wearing his Varsity high school jacket the front of it is maroon with the number 27 out lined in black, the sleeves are black and on the back it says Henderson at the top of the shoulders in maroon letters that are out lined in black, he's wearing a dark grey short sleeve t-shirt that says Adidas in black letters, a pair of boot cut American Eagle blue jeans for men and a pair of black and white Adidas Neo high tops. We walk down stairs where we find Dad sitting on the couch with his black Hp laptop on the table. He looks up from the screen and I said " Did you find anything?" He said " Maybe I'm looking through some old files from when I was in high school with your mom". Eric and I look at him with playful suspicion and He said with a grin " Okay I may have flirted with Mrs. Jenkins a little bit to get the files". Eric and I make a grossed out expression. Eric said " Is that the really old secretary that falls asleep during detention?" I giggle so does Eric. Dad said " Yeah she was the gym teacher when I went there she's worked there for fifty years". Eric and I can't help but giggle He said " When your are desperate you will do anything". We both sit down beside him I sit on the right and Eric sits on the left. I see a few sheets of old paper beside the laptop I pick them up and look at them. I said " What made you want to look at these?" Dad said " Well I remember going over to Kelly's Dad's house when Kyle use to date her. It was on the outskirts of town not a neighbor or store for miles I believe Kelly may have took your mom there because it's so far away from here". The sound of the door bell rings I get up and walk over to the front door and open it revealing Kim and Carly. I let them in and they walk into the living room Kim sits down in a grey sitting chair across from Dad while Carly stands beside her. Kim said " Did you find anything?" Dad said " I think so. Do you remember where Kelly lived back then?" She said " Yeah pretty well". Dad said " I have a feeling Kelly took Jane out there". Kim said " Well let's go out there and see". Dad looks at me, Eric and Carly. I said " There is no way we are letting you guys go alone. something could happen". Dad said " She's right we'll need backup. We should all teleport there so Kelly can't see my truck". We all get up and stand in a circle beside the coffee table and hold hands as Dad starts teleporting us there. Red energy swirls around us until we disappear. We teleport on an old gravel road in front of us is a gravel driveway leading into a heavily wooded area. Dad walks in front as we all follow behind him we see this old abandon two story mansion out in the middle of nowhere without a neighbor for miles. Kim whispered " That's the house". Dad whispered " Are you sure?" She whispered " Yeah definitely". We all quietly approach the house as we walk up on the front porch the door opens slowly by it's self. We walk in Eric closes the door quietly without no sound echo. Dad looks around we are in the foyer where a set of wooden stairs lead up to the rooms he look to the left and sees what use to be the living room. An old couch sits in the middle of the room by a fireplace we walk in and Dad walks up to the fireplace mantle above it is an old portrait picture of Austin, Kelly's dad and her as a teen. Austin is sitting in a chair design as a king's throne it is red and gold. He has this evil smirk on his face as he sits up in the chair with both his hands on a cane that has a metal top the stick part is black. Kelly is standing beside the chair in a black dress and black heels her hair is dark brown and curly at the ends. Austin is young in the picture his hair is dark brown and it is a 1950's haircut like Elvis Presley's slicked back style. He is wearing a black tuxedo with black dress shoes. I'm looking at the picture with Dad there is a date in the corner that says February 10, 1982. Kelly is at least fifteen and Austin looks like he's in his mid thirties the look in Kelly's eyes is unsettling her eyes just look emotionless and dark like nobody is home inside her young mind while Austin's eyes are that of the devil. We continue looking around the living room until there is a noise upstairs sounding like something fell to the floor. Dad walks out of the living room and into the foyer going up the stairs as we all follow behind him. He passes by a huge window and turns up the stairs onto a hallway where four doors are. Two on the left and two on the right. Dad walks down to the last door on the left and opens it gently. The room has boards over the window there is some holes in the wood making the sun light peek through. An old bed with a metal frame sits in the left corner there is a thick layer of dust on the mattress. The floor creaks as we walk on it Dad sees a book laying on the floor in the middle of the room. As he looks at it I spot an old vanity with a mirror in the right corner. I see a old picture of Kelly and Kyle she is fifteen and he is fourteen. Kelly is leaned up against a 1977 T-top Pontiac Fire bird which is also known as a Trans am. Kyle has his arm around her as they pose for the picture it is in a color but the picture is faded and about twenty-eight years old. In the right bottom corner I see a picture of Mom and Kelly sitting on the low brick wall in the courtyard at Finway they are about sixteen. Mom isn't sitting very close to her they are a few inches apart enough to not be touching. Kelly is smirking in the picture as Mom smiles with that beautiful smile of hers. Dad said to Kim " Isn't that the 1983 yearbook?" I look over at them as they stand over it with Eric and Carly. Kim said " It is". The sound of the door slamming rings in our ears. We all look over and see Kelly standing there with her left arm around Mom's neck with a 45 caliber gun to the temple of Mom's head. Dad said " Kelly put the gun down and let her go". Kelly said " Nah I don't think so. this time I'm never letting her go". Mom said " It's okay Jason she can't kill me she doesn't have the balls to do it". Kelly pushes the gun into her head. Kim said " Kelly just stop she is never gonna feel the same way you do". Kelly points the gun at Kim and said " Shut up whore". Dad said " What have you gotten over the years of trying to make Jane love you? nothing so just give up now". Kelly said " Never asshole.. I could treat her so much better than you and I would never cheat on her like a dumb ass". Dad has a guilty look on his face. The yearbook opens up by it's self. Kelly looks at us and said " Which one of you pricks did that!" Dad said " Nobody did it". All the sudden the floor under our feet starts moving. A small black hole opens up in the middle of the pages on the yearbook. Kim is the closest to the book she is pushed back by the moving floor and she falls into the book along with Dad. Soon Eric and Carly fall to the floor as it sucks them closer to the book I fall with Mom and Kelly. I grab Eric's hand as his legs are being sucked in as Carly falls in she desperately claws at the floor. I brace myself by grabbing the wall I see Kelly and Mom wrestling around on the floor as Mom tries to get away but Kelly keeps grabbing a hold of her. Kelly wraps her legs around Mom's body and her arms around her neck from the side as Mom is pulled towards the book they fall in together. I feel the wall breaking as my hand is starting to push through until it goes completely through and I lose my leverage Eric exclaims as he slips from my grasp. I exclaimed " Eric!!" I'm thrown forward as I fall in head first as everything goes black.
