I blinked "What?"

"You're pregnant, Lyla"

"Are...are you sure?"

"Positive,"

"I can't be"

The doctor nodded. "You are"

"H-how far?"

"Three weeks"

New York

"Hubby will be happy"

Yeah, except it might be brother in law's instead. So hubby isn't going to find out, not just yet anyway

I nodded "Yeah."

I left the doctor's office and went back home not really sure what to do with myself. I was pregnant, and didn't know who the father was. It was like an episode of Maury Povich, or was about to be.

I sat in the living room in a complete daze. Liam was mad at me, how was I going to tell him; even worse, how was I going to tell him it might not be his?
Noel wanted my marriage to be over so bad; this was going to do it, for sure.
And he wasn't going to own up if it was his so I'd be heading home to my Mom. I'd be heading home to Mom and this kid would grow up just like I did, without a dad.

I sat back on the couch pushing my hands through my hair; trying really hard not to have a panic attack, so far, it wasn't working.

I broke down and really cried for the first time in days. I was alone again, so far away from home there was nothing my Mom could do, Liam wouldn't be her favourite person anymore and she would hate Noel without even meeting him; maybe. Just depends on whose baby it was, I'd never find out, which meant it would be Liam's head on the chopping block.

I went to the kitchen and dialled Mom's house. It was three in the afternoon, which meant it was only ten there; I hoped mom had the day off.

It rang three times before someone picked up.

"Hello?"

Sally.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying hard not to cry again.

"H-hey kid, is Mom home?"

"No, she's at work Ly, it's Wednesday"

Fuck.

"How are you, I miss you"

"I'm fine, I miss you too"

"How is Liam?"

I swallowed again. "He's fine; he's at the studio with the guys"

"Oh...and Guigsy?"

"He's there too; you aren't still hung up on him, are you?"

She scoffed "No"

I rolled my eyes. "How many times has he called since you left?"

"A few"

I sighed "Sally, don't get too invested, it's only going to-"

"I'm a big girl Ly"

"I'm not saying you aren't, I just...I know Guigs, okay? He's not-"

"Ly, spare me the lecture, alright?"

I sighed "Just..." I stopped not sure if I wanted to ask this again. "You were...safe, right?"

"Oh my god, Lyla"

"Were you?" I repeated

"I..." She stuttered "Yeah"
