I sat on the bed with the papers in my lap and just stared at them. I didn't think things were that bad between us.
I got up and put the papers back where Noel had gotten them. I wasn't ready to face that reality yet.

The door opened just as I finished putting the papers under his stuff.
I looked up as Liam closed the door.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and sighed.

"You didn't finish your breakfast" he said quietly setting a plate of waffles on the nightstand.

"I'm not hungry" I said honestly

"Y'haven't eaten since yesterday"

"So?"

"Eat"

I picked up one of the waffles and bit off the corner before putting it back down.

"Happy?"

"Very"

No you're not.

We got on a plane, an extremely turbulent plane, to Madrid. I gripped the arm of my seat closing my eyes; I jumped when I felt a hand on my thigh.
I opened my eyes looking at Liam as a tear slid down my cheek He pushed his hand under mine prying my fingers from the arm rest and linking them with his.

“Deep breaths Ly,” he whispered wiping the tear off my cheek, never breaking eye contact with me.

We hit another pocket of turbulence and I squeezed my eyes shut, squeezing his hand hard. He squeezed back just as hard as I swallowed the lump in my throat. “I can’t…” I leaned back against the headrest trying to focus on anything else.

“Open your eyes” Liam whispered turning my face towards his.  “Breathe”

I shook my head pulling my lips against my teeth “I can’t”

“Lyla, c’mon” he said quietly “Don’t think about anythin’ else, listen t’my voice; nothin’ else”

I tried blocking out everything like he said, but it was easier said than done

“Focus and breathe” he said quietly

“Don’t leave me” I blurted out squeezing his hand harder

“Where am I gonna go?” he asked with a small laugh “We’re thirty thousand feet in the air”

I gasped in a panic gripping his hand “Don’t!”

“Ly, babe, look at me” he took my face in his hands “Y’trust me, right?”

I nodded swallowing hard

“I ain’t gonna let anythin’ happen t’you” he said looking at me seriously

“Promise?”

He nodded pulling me closer and kissing my forehead “I promise”

Liam and I had been fighting for weeks and yet he completely pushed it all aside when I really needed him…I didn’t deserve him at all.

**

Another forty five minutes of hell before we were finally landing in Madrid. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when my feet finally hit the tarmac.

Liam grabbed my hand with a small nudge as we walked through the tunnel into the airport “I told you y’would be alright” he smiled

I smiled “You would think I would be used to it by now” I muttered

“Everyone’s afraid of somethin’, babe; it ain’t a big deal”

“You’re not afraid of anything”
