New Year's Eve was hands down the worst night of my life...or at least made the top ten.

The alcohol and drugs probably didn't help things and the rest of the band was an ocean away, but it still managed to implode.
We went to the club around the corner from mom's house, last time we were there, Liam got into a fight and broke Nathan's nose.
This time he was flirting with every girl in the place who didn't have a guy attached to her arm; I was the invisible wife.

I sat at the table in the crowded bar and tapped the edge of my glass. Everyone around there was with someone, I should have been, but Liam had disappeared.
I drank more and just watched the clock get closer and closer to midnight.
He reappeared twenty minutes later and sat across from me, he was very obviously drunk and very obviously high.

"Hey, kid"

I blinked with disbelief "What did you just call me?"

"Y'been sittin' 'ere all night?"

I just ignored him taking a drink.

"Y'gonna ignore me all night?"

"I'm not the one ignoring you; I haven't seen you all fucking night!"

"And whose fault is that?"

I frowned "I don't know where you've been!" I yelled "How am I supposed to-"

I just shook my head and downed the rest of my drink. "Whatever Liam, I'll just see you back at home."

"You're leavin'?"

"Well, you're ignoring me anyway so what's it matter?"

"Lyla, c'mon"

I got up and walked away and big surprise, he didn't follow.
I didn't leave; I went to the bar and got myself another drink. I saw Liam go back towards the bathrooms, probably to do more lines.

The clock ticked down and everybody in the bar started counting down to the stroke of twelve. I sighed pulling myself up from the bar and walked through the sea of couples.
The crowded bar reached one and exploded with cheers; Liam was nowhere to be seen.

I jumped when I was turned around and someone kissed me hard. I grabbed the back of his head on instinct, but I could tell it wasn't Liam, his lips were too soft, but before I could push him off he pulled away.

"Guigsy?!"

"Happy New Year, Ly" he whispered with a smile.

I blinked totally confused, I know I was drunk, but I wasn't that drunk.

"What the hell are you doing, where's my sister?"

He shrugged "Home probably, she left about an hour ago, we called it quits"

"A-and you're kissing me why?"

"Well, Liam's not and everybody deserves t'be kissed at midnight on New Year's"

"Well then where's he?"

"He left"

"He left; you've got to be fucking kidding me"

Guigs shook his head "Sorry babe"

I sighed pushing my hand through my hair. "Alone?"

"I'm not sure"

"I have to go"

"C'mon Ly, stay, have a drink with me"

I shook my head "No, I have to go; I have to check on my sister and...and find my husband"
