chapter twenty-eight: picnic

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

We decided to all have a little picnic at the park.

Everyone this time!

Larry, Sal, Todd, Neil, Ash, Soda, Chug, Maple, and surprisingly even Lisa and Sals dad.

I never really properly met Sals father. He was always too busy with work, only occasionally greeting me the few times I've been in his home.

I brought a picnic basket filled with cute little jars of fresh lemonade I made for all of us, while Ash packed some food.

Lisa bought the cutest picnic blanket that was also extremely large and we all worked together to set everything up.

Soda was on Sals shoulders as he hopped around cutely. She was giggling wildly as I helped Lisa stretch out the blanket.

"This girl is such a great person, Henry" Lisa spoke to Sals father. Huh, well now I know his name. "I've known her for so long and it's almost like I can call her one of my own"

I smiled looking up towards her as Henry stood next to her, grinning slightly. It's cool to see where Sal got his blue hair from. "Well it's nice to properly meet you (Y/N), I'm happy I could get off of work to enjoy this day with you all!"

"Me too, thank you for making time!" I beamed, setting my picnic basket on one of the corners.

Larry flopped his body down as soon it was set up, making Lisa groan. "Sometimes it's nice to have another woman in the home"

I nodded in agreement.

"Hey, I'm not too bad!" Larry pouted as I positioned myself, laying next to him.

"Not always" I joked and stuck my tongue out at him.

Sal walked over to us and sat down, with Soda jumping off his shoulders.

She wobbled over to me, so I sat up and reached my arms out "Soda!"

"Hewwo (Y/N)!"

I pulled her close and sat cross cross, letting her sit in my lap. She leaned back into me like I was a chair and I saw Sal looking over to me. I could tell he was smiling wide under his mask.

He scooted himself beside me, sitting the same way and I felt his hand creep up to mine.

It was subtle and unnoticeable by anyone else, but I still blushed hard.

We weren't dating or anything yet, so I'm sure his dad had no clue about me and his son.

He was always really busy anyways, so I'm sure he hasn't even mentioned me much to his dad.

Soda was blabbing on about the nature like the cool butterflies she saw, while I watched as Todd and Neil took a stroll with Maple and Chug down a little path. It was probably nice to talk to another couple that have been long term and are sort of moving things along in their lives.

I wonder if Todd and Neil ever want to have kids.

Ash was chatting with Harry now, I bet they've known each other for awhile now, with Sal being really good friends with her.

"Awsh can you shwow me how to do a cawtwheel!!" Soda begged.

"Of fucking course I ca- oh shit sorry don't say that word! Or that one" she laughed, stumbling up from her spot.

I rolled my eyes as Soda jumped out of my lap and ran after her.

Sal moved his hand away quickly, but I just smiled over at him.
