It wasn't that late, probably around dinner time now.

The three of us decided to go out and get some food as a celebration of (Y/N) and I losing so hard.

We didn't want to go anywhere too fancy, especially with none of us actually having a job. (Y/N) said she had some money from back home but I really didn't want her paying for everything.

A diner came into my view and I excitedly pointed at the building, never seeing it before "hey I love diners! That place looks pretty promising, you guys wanna go there?"

She slowed the car and looked at Larry through the mirror "Sure! I don't mind"

Larry simply nodded and gave a small thumbs up while staring out the window.

We parked the car and soon stepped into the small restaurant. There weren't too many people there, so I was kind of just happy it wasn't crowded.

Larry rushed towards the booth seat, and slid in as fast as he could, almost toppling himself over in the process. Heh.

(Y/N) ran past me and did the same, but a lot less violently.

I laughed to myself as I sat next to her, Larry giving me a cocky look.

Huh?

Just then, a waitress came over with three menus, placing them down on the table and greeting us all.

"What can I get you guys to drink?" She kindly asked.

We looked towards (Y/N), and she was biting her lip. She was really thinking hard about what she wanted and that was so cute to me.

"Uh. Really strange but can I get chocolate milk...." she awkwardly asked the lady.

I smiled so wide under my mask, and nodded "I'll have some too!"

Larry rolled his eyes and mumbled to himself about how we were children. It was dinner time and we were ordering chocolate milk, but I had no protests to that.

"I'll have some root beer" Larry said and the waitress walked off.

We all stared at our menus, completely unsure what to get.

"I think I'm going to get a burger or something" Larry announced "what about you guys?"

I stared at the menu and hummed, scanning each part of it.

"I might just get chicken strips, I'm not sure what else I'd get" I shrugged and looked to (Y/N).

"I think I'll get a wrap!" She seemed pretty content with her choice and placed the menu in the center of the table.

We all did the same, and the woman came back. She handed all of us our drinks, and wrote down our orders.

(Y/N) was really enjoying her chocolate milk, as she almost inhaled half of it in one sip.

I decided to take a sip and it honestly was the best chocolate milk I've had in awhile. "This is so fucking good" I said quietly.

"Right?!" (Y/N) giggled, making me grin.

Her laugh made me so delighted.

Just then, a group of boys a few years younger than us walked in, and I made eye contact with one of them.

"Ew it's not even Halloween, what a dumbass..." he joked to his friends, making them all snort and agree.

What pricks. I know they were kids but damn sometimes it got under my skin.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my leg bringing my attention to the right of me.

(Y/N) had placed her hand on my thigh comfortingly and she gave me a sympathetic look.

I felt my cheeks heat up insanely and I swallowed hard from feeling her touch.

There's no way she likes me any more than a friend. I've convinced myself that. But there's moments where I do get a glimmer of 'what if' and these were one of these moments.

I felt her hand release, but before she could pull back her hand, a placed it back down on my leg.

It really was comforting to have human touch. I've enjoyed it my whole life, but I rarely received it.

She kept her hand there for awhile, occasionally moving its position, making my whole body shiver from feeling.

We chatted a bit, but she stayed like that, making me feel safe in a way.

Her hand was sadly lifted when our food came, and it left me feeling less warm than I was. She delicately picked up her food and ate it, as we Larry and I scarfed down our food.

I made it so my mask was slightly lifted, that way I didn't have to fully take it off while I ate. I've always done this, as it was just an easy way without feeling uncomfortable.

"You guys are such boys it's unbelievable" she sassed.

Eventually, we all finished up eating and we're just sitting in the booth, laughing and messing around. Somehow Larry spilled his drink, and (Y/N) couldn't stop laughing. She was almost out of breath by the time she finally calmed down.

I looked towards her hand resting on the seat and I gulped, wishing it was back on my leg. Instead of that, I decided to lightly put my leg against hers.

I was hoping she wouldn't notice, but she did, giving me a quizzical look.

The waitress then came over so I was absolutely saved by the bell.

"Alright here's your bill, thank you guys for coming!"

(Y/N) pulled out her wallet and read the check "if you guys want, you can pay me back another time. But I  really don't mind so you don't have to!"

"Don't worry we will" Larry said standing up and stretching his tall body. I always envied how tall he was.

I moved myself out of the booth, and watched as (Y/N) did the same. She was around my height and it was perfect.

We walked towards the door and I stopped in my tracks.

I really have to pee.

"Hold on guys, you can go to the car I gotta take a piss real fast" I announced as (Y/N) shot me finger guns and Larry just nodded.

I made my way into the bathroom and tried to do my business as fast as possible. I stared into the mirror and sighed quietly. I never really could get used to my appearance, whether it be with or without my prosthetic

I stopped putting in the pigtails I had awhile ago, but there are some days I think about wearing my hair like that again.

Though, having my hair down makes me look and feel older. I feel more me.

I washed my hands and flattened down the stray pieces with some water.

As soon as I stepped a food outside the bathroom, the waitress that we had, rushed up to me.

She had (Y/N)'s wallet in hand.

"Hey! I was hoping y'all hadn't left yet. Your girlfriend left this at the table, glad I caught you on the way out!" She smiled politely at me and I took the wallet.

Girlfriend?

As I heard that word, I bit my lip and furrowed my eyebrows.

She wasn't my girlfriend, just... my friend.

"Heh. Thank you, have a nice night." I waved and walked out of the place, towards the car.

I don't know what was going on in my brain. She wasn't my girlfriend, she was one of my closest friends. I'm still so unsure about my feelings because I genuinely never felt like this about someone. I'm just so unsure about what I'm feeling.

But either way,

I didn't even want to correct her.
