Ah shit.

Jaehyun couldn't see. He threw his head in all sorts of direction in defence incase this unknown thief would pounce at him. Who knew, maybe it could be left or right or front or back?! He needed to stay on guard, alert. If it meant protecting his mother in a situation like this he'd do pretty much everything.

His footsteps were lithe to keep low and with his torso lowered, hands in a claw manner awaiting to strangle the hell out of that protruding bitch! At this point, even the smallest sound will make him break his neck by turning. This is something to be taken seriously not lightly. Since the room was jet black his vision couldn't comprehend his surroundings. It was only his sense of touch that he depended on. He made sure to stride slowly so he wouldn't be stupid enough to bump in anything.

Just as he felt his hand trail up something wooden and his finger traced down feeling something round assuming that's the doorknob, that meant that the light switch was near. He has a chance to capture the thief! A sudden rush of triumph running in his veins.

I'll get you, asshole!

He cheered and proudly switched on the lights. His eyes scanning the room that seemed to belong to Hae-rim. Wait. . . Hae-rim?

What if she's here?

Jaehyun hitched and started looking around.

Then his gaze stopped at something on the floor.

Or someone?

He stepped closer to have a better look. Then, his eyes widened.

Hae-rim?

The woman was faced stomach flat on the ground with her face at the sides so it took Jaehyun sometime to recognize her. What if someone bad happened? Did that thief knock her out and got away with it? Oh so help him he'll beat the living shit out of that person.

Jaehyun hurried over to Hae-rim and gently held her in his arms. He made sure to check her pulse. A sigh of relief erupted. She's alive, thank heavens. Jaehyun thought, hoisting her up before laying her on the bed. He shook her slightly in which she groaned.

"Mom. . . Mom?" There was worry in his tone as well as on his features. Never would he expect coming home to his mother fainted on the ground. Right there, he would've panicked. But it seems that won't do — instead, he proceeded with some of the basics. Making sure to check her pulse and her breathing. Jaehyun then grabbed a bunch of pillows and had Hae-rim's feet rested on.

"Jaehyun?" Hae-rim croaked, rubbing her forehead. "You're home. . . Welcome home, love."

Hae-rim lifted herself up but instead was brought back to her laying position by Jaehyun. "Mom. It's alright. Just lay for a moment. I'm sure you're dizzy. I told you not to overwork yourself again."

If Jaehyun were to name the most hardworking person in the entire world. It would be his mother, Jung Hae-rim. Even at such an age for her to retire. She refused to and kept working. Despite the wealth and how fine they were financially, this didn't halt her from working still. You never know when things will suddenly go down. At least they'll have a backup. Even a working son, she didn't want to use her son for money, she isn't dependent on anyone.

She must've been too hardworking she forgot to take her medications.

Jaehyun went out to grab a glass of water and some pills. He gave it to Hae-rim in which she took calmly.

"Ah, I forgot about it. Thank you. How was work Jaehyun?"

Jaehyun watched as his mother take the medication and gulped in some water. He cleared his throat.
