Volume 1 - Chapter 7: Back To The Forest

After obtaining the《Craftsmanship F》skill, my brain begun to flood with ideas whenever I see something that included tinkering which often urges me to build something as thought I'm on drugs. I thought of releasing it on certain small-time crafts like leaf horns but now I can craft something even better than that.

So without further delay, I used the knife I stole from the orphanage's kitchen to carve the wood. With Alvis and the《Craftsmanship F》skill, I was able to delicately carve and draw what I wanted on the wood and finished it without any mistakes. I made a small box with the wooden planks to make a "chessboard". I carved out some space between the two planks to make a box and accommodate the chess pieces.

「Now then, for the chest pieces.」

I picked up one of the wooden cubes and started carving it with the kitchen knife. After roughly 2 minutes, I was able to make a horse head even though it barely looks like one and looked more like a donkey. Probably because my《Craftsmanship F》skill was still low ranked.

「One down, 31 pieces to go.」

After an hour, I was able to finish a whole set. A chessboard, one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops and eight pawns.

Alright, we're done here Alvis. It's already 5am, the kids'll start waking up soon. Specially Heinly who wakes up too early in the morning to buy us breakfast.

After packing the chess pieces inside the chessboard and storing them in the《Dimensional Storage》skill, I ran back to the orphanage without being noticed. Using my true speed and inconspicuous skill, I was able to sneak back in without any problems or witnesses.

But a problem came across my mind as I was eating breakfast in the halls.

Will they be able to get a grasp of the rules of chess? If I sell this to a merchant, wouldn't they just replicate it because I'm too young that they don't expect me to realize that I got cheated? Alvis, we have to make a method so that only I can create a copy of this game. That way, they can't just steal my work.

『Master, chess was not invented by you.』

Well, it was now! Because I'm the first person to have ever invented chess in this world!

Alvis let out a sigh from my exclamation.

But for now, let's make an easier board game. Let's make checkers.

Checkers is a board game where two opposing sides must reduce the number of their opponent's pieces by taking only 1 diagonal movement per turn. Whoever has the last remaining piece is the winner.

The next day, I sneaked out of the orphanage again to make checkers. Instead of making the pieces have form like that in chess, I made them into simple circles the size of a copper coin.

「And done!」

With this, I may be able to make money by selling this game. It doesn't matter anymore if they do copyright shits, it's a crime anyway and they'll go to jail after the government finds out they tried to copy a child's work.

I came back to the orphanage after doing my job and storing my invention in the storage skill. To my surprise, everyone was already outside and frantically looking everywhere for something.
