I thought I had a partner, but it really turns out I had a student. And tutoring Michael was not easy but it was fun when I whacked him behind the head for missing obvious steps.

"You are mean." He said rubbing the back of his head.

"You learned something new every time, didn't you?" I cocked my head to one side.

He rolled his eyes.

"Why did you say your life is fucked today?" I was curious, "I mean you are so called the school's most popular guy, you're not as dumb as you look. And I guess you got a loving family." I pointed out.

"I'm insulted." He shot me a glare. "Family? Ha." He rubbed his forehead.

I shrugged.

"My family is small but distant. My dad is a doctor and my mom a real estate agent. My dad barely stays home or comes home late. I got a five year old baby brother." He bluntly said.

"Ohh, so, why so, you know. You should be happy." I sat down on the floor beside him.

"My mom left with my little brother, so I stayed with my dad, but we always speak." He looked away from me.

"You seem happy to me."

"Have you ever heard don't judge a book by it's cover? Or see me smiling but am not happy?"

I looked him. How can someone with such a big ego have so much issues at home.

"It's ok. I understand why. She did what was best. My dad's a player and he can't see that...." He paused.

"Father like son." The words were out of my mouth before I could even think about it. He laughed.

"Excuse me? What's that you say?" His hazel eyes bore into mine. "So what about you though?"

"Well am an only child." I couldn't smile cause I was still try to let this new information about him.

"The spoiled brat type of girl." He broke eye contact.

"I'm not spoiled!" I snapped. He put up his hands as in defeat. "But am really sorry about your family." I calmed down.

"Pfft I really don't care. I am not going to allow myself to be hurt again." Anger flashed across his face.

"Again? Who would hurt you, you don't even have a stable girlfriend. Well that's what I've heard." I said quickly.

"I wasn't like this before you know."

"So what happened."

"I dated a girl and she cheated on me. When I caught her she still lied to my face." His fists were beginning to clench.

"So you're heartbroken?" I whispered.

"Not anymore." He exhaled. "What about you?"

I stayed silent for awhile. The front door swung open. We both turned towards the door. He groaned.

"Good afternoon, and you are?" A man with hazel eyes in a dark suit walked in.

"She's Tamika and she's leaving." Michael stood and I followed right after.

He held my hand as he led me to the front door. He grabbed his keys and helmet. I hung my head as he handed me mine. I waved the man as we pass by the man. Micheal shot him a death glace and he returned it but gave me a sympathetic smile. I could feel the tense. Michael slammed the door behind me.

"And he says am mean." I got onto the motorcycle. He shook his head and laughed.

"Are you always this witty with your mouth?" He gave me a mischievous smile. As he started the engine. "Hang on tight." And we were off.

~~~~~~~
It was almost dinner time when I got home. Michael had already driven off. I was too lazy to look for my keys so I rang the doorbell. My dad opened the door.
"Daddy!" He opened his arms as I flung myself to him. "You're home!"
"I'm here princess." He kissed the top of my head. "Did you just come home on a motorcycle?" He held me at arms length examining me.
"Dad am ok. And yes I did. He's a new friend slash acquaintance. He's my assignment buddy for awhile."
He laughed. And put his arm around my shoulder as he ushered me in.
"I'm famished." I rubbed my tummy.
"Me too honey." He smiled his mega watt smile as we headed to the kitchen.
My dad is tall and handsome with dark brown eyes as mine, he is more on the quiet side, but I looked more like my mom who was beautiful.
She could wear a sack and look good in it. Her hair is a bit long than mine, but is as curly as mine. Her eyes were stunningly grey. I mean which African American has grey eyes. Go figure. Why didn't I pick those up? She is short and very witty as I am
"Hey hun. How'd it go?" My mom was busy in the kitchen as she finished preparing dinner.
"Not bad actually, it's a long story tho." I sat on a bar stool next too my dad. She nodded.
"So dad how's work?" Not that I understood much of his work but I still asked.
"Tiring as usual. We got a new buyer from India."
"Ok people dinner is ready, shall we finish this convo over dinner please and thank you." We went to the dinning room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dinner was delicious thanks to my mom. I told my parents goodnight and trudged to my room. Michael was on my mind. Soo I decided to go take a cool shower to clear the air.

After my shower I slipped on a shorts and sleeveless top. I jumped into bed and did my normal routine. Music. I felt a pang of guilt flood over me as I recalled the information which had hit me like a rock. Who would have thought that he was going through any family problems? And at school he is labelled a jerk not knowing that he was really putting up a front to avoid being hurt. This cannot be true. I mean they said players are not always what they seem to be and usually not stable to avoid being taking advantage of by Delilahs. But then again it seems like it runs through the blood. Who am I too judge. Oh this was too much. I slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
