~Michael ~
The person I've practically been avoiding is going to be by my side for everything I do. We're in the same cabin and we're both in first command, there's no escape from this now. I really need closure of this, for the past few weeks, I wasn't at my best self and I used studying to push it aside, I hope I get the courage to get through this weekend. It looks as though everyone knows where their cabin is and who they're partner is, now it's time for the pep talk. We had agreed to meet in the middle of the grounds when we were done, well I didn't mention that to Tami, good thing the iPads have that as a reminder synced.
Sharon and Kevin were already there waiting and Tami was just arriving as I was. Sharon I just met today and Kevin is one of my friends so it's chill with him; though he and Sharon can't see each other breathe, this is going to be fun. "everyone's checked in where they're at." I scrolled through the list of names. "Since that's done, we gotta welcome them and tell them about whatever."
"I'm not doing that." Kevin held up his hands.
"Okay, So I'll do it." I looked at Tami who was into the iPad. "Okay, let's get their attention. Your same area, get everyone here." I handed Sharon a whistle indicating she should give it to Tami, since I'd forgotten to give it to her earlier. I am not willing to be snapped at right now.
I walked over to the East area, blowing the whistle loudly and knocking on doors. There is a bell but, this way is more effective for now, when the briefing is done, they'd know what the bell and whistle calls are for. Everyone is now at the middle, I was standing side by side with Tami and Kev and Sharon.
"Good evening seniors, are you ready to have one of the best weekends of your life?!" I shouted and they cheered. "Alright, I'm Michael, this is Tamika, Sharon and Kevin, we are your camp directors. So here's the thing I don't and won't keep you guys here long cause we need to get the party, I mean weekend started." They laughed at my slipup.
"There should be no littering and vandalism, believe it or not those are the only camp rules. This isn't kiddies camp so there'll be no bed time, however we do have a wake up time, but you don't have to." I clasp my hands, "if you look at the color of your wristband on your right arm, that's your team. Red and purple, now we'll have basic camp activities, you don't have to attend, but if you are missing your team loses a point. So it's your call, but hey because I'm in purple team and I love wining I'll be tough on you guys."
"That's enough from me, now I'll let Kevin do the honours of telling you who your team leaders are and the meaning to the different calls and what not. Anything you come to us, there's lot of food in the cafeteria, if you get sick, the camp medic is not so far and please don't harm you all selves." They laughed. "I'm dead serious though, but here's Kevin." I stepped back and allowed the wide eyed Kevin to step up.
Tami lightly laughed as I stood back by her. "what?" I looked at her.
"Didn't know you were much of a motivational speaker." She kept her eyes to the campers.
"What else you think you don't know about me?" I kept my eyes on her.
"You said two key words there genius, 'don't know'."
"Okay smart ass." I cleared my throat and looked towards the front as she turned to glare at me. Oh baby, you said it yourself, I'm an asshole.
We all went off in the search of wood for our bonfire, gonna be on big bonfire if you ask me. I went along with the boys, I can't stop thinking of Tami, she drives me crazy. I just wish I could have her now, and those shorts are pretty distracting to me and if it is to me imagine what it is to those other guys. I need to stay focused, but those shorts, I just want to rip them of her.
