You wake up early again, you look at your phone, 5:45. You sigh and roll onto your back. Arizona is curled up next to you, her hand placed on your stomach. She's sleeping soundly for the first time in days, you decide to leave her sleeping for a little longer. You decide to message your Mom and see if she wants to meet you this morning.
You: Morning Mom, I know it's been a while, sorry, it's been a bit manic! I was wondering if you and Dad wanted to meet in the cafeteria for breakfast in about an hour?
Meredith: Of course we would sweetie! It'll be good to catch up! We miss you at home, especially Zozo!💕
You: I miss you all too, but I promise, Arizona has been taking really good care of me Mom! See you soon.
You smile to yourself, Arizona has definitely been looking after you, in more ways than one. You feel safe with Arizona, no matter what happens, you know she'll still be there, holding your hand and reassuring you with her bright eyes and famous smile.
You move gently out of the bed and kiss Arizona softly on her head, you pull some of her hair out of her face and pull the blanket up over her shoulders. You walk quietly over to the bathroom, making sure you don't wake Arizona up and jump into the shower. You borrow some of her shampoo and wash your hair and relax against the warm water. Your back is starting to ache more and your body feels so tired. The warm water eases some of your body aches.
You grab a towel and sit at Arizona's dressing table and start to towel dry and brush through your hair. You start getting ready and sigh to yourself. You never seem to bring any of your clothes to Arizona's house, which is ridiculous seeing as you stay here quite a bit. You go quietly over to her wardrobe and look for some scrubs. When you spot a note attached to a pair of her scrubs, you untie it and read it.
"I thought it was time you had some scrubs of your own, check the top drawer of the dresser, it's your drawer now, I love you."
You look over at Arizona, still sleeping soundly and cozied up underneath the duvet. You smile to yourself and are grateful she's getting some peaceful sleep. You go over to the dresser and open the top drawer.
You find a few tops and maternity jeans, socks along with two sets of new blue scrubs, deodorant, a hairbrush and a new bottle of perfume, the same one that Arizona wears. There's another note, you unfold it and read it.
"Last surprise, I promise! Check the wardrobe! Hope it fits better than your current one!"
You quietly open the wardrobe, careful to not wake Arizona. Hanging up is a brand new white coat, it has your name engraved in it, alongside a few animal patches sewn on the front. You smile again, now you're fully decked out. Although, maybe it's best to leave wheelie sneakers until after your pregnancy... Arizona was talking you into getting a pair!
You dry yourself and get out of your towel and change into your new scrubs and tie up your hair into a loose ponytail. You feel a slight flutter in your belly, making you stop what you're doing. It passes quickly and you think nothing of it. You wait a minute, you don't feel it again so you decide to go downstairs and make Arizona some breakfast.
You make her avocado on toast and a strawberry smoothie, you have a busy day today and need to leave soon to meet your mom. You carry her breakfast up and put it on her side table. You crawl onto the bed a snuggle up to Arizona.
"Arizona, morning sleepyhead, I brought you breakfast" You whisper into her ear. She groans and wraps her arms around you.
"Uhh, what time is it Grace?" She moans and sits up.
"It's okay, it's only just gone 6, you've got an hour and a half before rounds, but I thought you could hang back for a bit, I need to go to the hospital in 15 minutes anyway to meet Mom, so I can start rounds if you want? You haven't slept great for ages." You exclaim.
