"Arizona, we're going to be okay. Right?" You whimper.
Arizona looks at you, her gaze softens. She puts her hand over your belly and sighs.
"Of course we are Grace! We're always okay! I've got you, nothing will happen, I promise..." Arizona exclaims.
The alarms start to sound again, making you jump and cover your ears, hot tears spring to your eyes. Arizona pulls you towards her and she cradles your head, you can feel her sobbing, but she wraps you in a tight embrace and shelters you from the noise.
You can hear the ferocity of the wind ripping through familiar buildings, screams of pedestrians on the nearby sidewalks, and the smashing of cars being pulled together.
"We, we, we need to get down Grace, uhh, the table! Let's get under there Grace, come on, it's okay." Arizona trembles. She stands up shakily, grabbing your hands and helping you up.
You both take a look out of the small window and gasp. The nearby park has been ripped through, there is debris flying around, injured people remain lifelessly on the ground, car alarms are sounding, a fire engine is wrapped around a nearby tree.
Arizona pulls you away gently and gets you both comfortably underneath the table. She pulls you in and props your head up onto her lap.
"I'm going to page Mom, I need to know she's safe Arizona! I can't do this" You cry.
"Grace, look at me! We're going to be okay, I love you and you love me! The universe can do it's best, but nothing can tear us apart! I'll do anything to keep you safe Grace! I promise you. This is forever." Arizona sobs.
You can feel the hospital foundations start to creak and the buildings outside are groaning, you can hear nearby windows smashing and more screaming. The alarms cut out and the lights shut off. The emergency lighting flickers dimly and Arizona puts a hand on your stomach protectively, feeling a multitude of kicks, Arizona smiles and squeezes your hand.
You look up at Arizona, "forever" you reassure her. Arizona strokes your hair and tries to distract you by talking about the baby.
"You know, I had something really important to ask you today Grace" She laughs through tears.
Before you have a chance to respond you hear a distant shout. It startles you and you sit up quickly and try to get to the door. Arizona strongly pulls you back and holds you tightly.
"Grace, you're not going anywhere, it's not safe! I can feel the tornado, it's close. Stay here, please." Arizona pleads.
"Grace?! Arizona?!" the voice wails over the strong wind which is getting closer and closer by the second.
You hear the clunking of metal and glass smashing. It's reached the parking lot. You don't have long, a minute maybe, before the tornado hits your floor and rips its way through.
"GRACE?" The voice shouts again, clearer this time and closer.
"Arizona, it's Mom!" You cry.
"MOM! WE'RE IN THE LOUNGE! HURRY!" You yell.
Before Meredith has a chance to respond, the tornado comes ripping through the hospital floor by floor. Crash carts fly through the open windows, gurney's become impaled into the nearby walls and doors, lights smash, furniture starts to crash around, dislodging itself from the ER.
Meredith tries to find cover, but the wind is too strong and pulls her backwards, crashing into a nearby pillar. Knocking her unconscious. The unforgiving suction of the tornado passes through, nearing yours and Arizona's cover.
