Gender reveal!

(Fast forward 2 months)

You and Arizona both had a late night last night, you were talking about the baby, and how excited you both are!

You're now 21 weeks, and today is the day of your 21 week scan and gender reveal. You also have a surprise planned for Arizona. To thank her for everything she has done for you.

You both fell asleep on the couch in the early hours of the morning, you've both been on call all week, and are exhausted. You wake up to find Arizona asleep on the floor and you have been wrapped up in a fluffy blanket and surrounded by soft pillows. You chuck one in Arizona's direction.

"Hey! Who said you could sleep on the floor? I missed my cuddle partner! And you're going to regret sleeping on the floor!" You laugh.

Arizona groans, "I thought it would help your back if you could fully stretch out, but oh god, my neck!" She laughs and stretches out.

"I'll make breakfast then!" You smile, "Look at the time Arizona! We have to be at the hospital soon!" You gasp.

You both rush around and get ready and Arizona drives you to the hospital. She parks up and you both hurry upstairs.

"Come on Grace! I'm excited, boy or girl, what do you think?" Arizona asks.

"I honestly have no idea, a boy maybe?" You laugh.

Arizona grabs your hand and is practically dragging you down the corridor. You spot your Mom and she waves you and Arizona over.

"Ready Grace? Everything is all set up for your ultrasound!" Meredith exclaims.

Arizona's face drops, "wait Grace, I thought I was doing the ultrasound?" She frowns, trying to hide her disappointment. You grab her hand and squeeze it reassuringly.

"You were Arizona, but I thought if we got someone else to do it, then we could throw a gender reveal party and find out together? Bailey is sorting it all out, I wanted it to be a surprise!" You laugh and embrace her, she kisses you and whispers in your ear. "You know you're actually the best girlfriend ever right?"

You walk hand in hand into the exam room and Arizona helps you up onto the bed, she takes a seat next to you and holds your hand.

Your Mom and Bailey walk in with their equipment and a notepad. Meredith turns the screen away from you, Bailey pulls up your top and puts gel over your belly and steps back. Meredith moves the wand over your belly until the room is filled with such a wholesome whooshing sound, Arizona smiles at you brightly and squeezes your hand.

"That is one healthy and happy little baby Grace! You're both doing awesome! Well done for looking after them both so well Arizona" Meredith points out. She scribbles down the gender on the notepad and hands it over to Bailey, who is looking ecstatic!

"Ahh! I can't wait to see your faces!" Bailey squeals.

"You're both going to be so happy!" Meredith laughs.

"Right you two, I need you to stay away from here until I come and tell you otherwise, why don't you take Grace for a relaxing walk Dr Robbins? I'll come and get you when I'm done! I cancelled my surgeries all day, so this is going to be awesome!" Bailey ushers you both out of the hospital, and into the car park.

Arizona takes your hand and leads you down to the nearby park. Surrounded by lush green grass, a fresh blue lake with ducks and overlooking a huge play park.

"You know, I used to play here when I was a kid, this place was magical to me. I can't wait Grace, for day trips to the park, picnics, feeding the duck, the lot! I can't wait to share all of these memories with you and our baby!" Arizona exclaims.

You smile at her intently and nestle into her on the park bench.

"You know, at this moment in time, there's no where else I'd rather be Arizona, right here and right now, all I need is you and our baby. I love you so much, I hope you know just how much I care about you, and how excited I am to start our family together, with you! I couldn't have ever asked for anyone better! We have so many adventures Arizona, and I can't wait!" You emphasise.

She pulls you in gently and kisses you passionately, making sure you know just how much she loves you.

You pull apart and go on stroll around the park, taking in all of its natural beauty, and picturing Arizona and you playing with your baby and laughing about something silly and senseless. It brings hot tears to your eyes, it's such a vivid picture in your mind and it feels real. Arizona turns to you looking worried.

"Arizona, we need to take our baby to this park lots and lots, make memories and go on picnics, okay?!" You sniff.

"Uhh, of course Grace?" She laughs. She bends down and strokes your bump. "Hey baby, are you making Mommy's hormones go silly." She laughs and looks up at you smiling, she stands up and wipes your tears with her sleeve and kisses you on the tip of your nose.

You both walk back to the hospital to find Bailey waiting impatiently out the front glaring at you both.

"You're both 5 minutes late! Do you know how excited I am?! I can't wait any longer!" She laughs.

She grabs one of your hands and one of Arizona's and leads you to the hospital garden. She covers your eyes and Arizona does the same.

"Right, are you both ready? 3... 2.... 1..... OPEN YOUR EYES!" Bailey shouts.

You and Arizona both open your eyes at the same time, and marvel what is in front of you.

Blue and pink streamers are everywhere, balloons, cupcakes and different coloured drinks.

Meredith, Cristina, Derek, Jackson, April, Richard, Callie, Maggie and Amelia are all standing around wearing ridiculous party hats and blowing into party blowers and cheering you both. You take the time to go and speak to everyone and chat briefly, until Bailey brings out box that is nearly as big as she is and places it on the ground in front of you and Arizona, everyone else takes a step back in anticipation.

"Ready?" Arizona whispers.

"Never been more ready for anything" you reply quietly.

"When you pull the tabs off the box, it'll burst open and balloons will fly up, blue for a boy and pink for a girl, sorry we couldn't find something better, but I hope you like it" Bailey exclaims.

Arizona gives you a reassuring smile and you can feel your baby kicking hard, you out a hand on your bump comfortingly and nod towards Arizona. She takes your hand and you squeeze it tight.

"3... 2... 1.... GOOOO!" Everyone shouts.

You and Arizona pull on the tabs, and brights blue balloons come rising up.

"IT'S A BOY!" Arizona cries happily, she embraces you and kisses you hard and then your bump. You start crying and hug Arizona tightly.

"A baby boy!" You sob. Your Mom and Dad come running over to you and Arizona and embrace you both.

"A boy! Finally, I won't be as outnumbered!" Derek laughs.

Meredith hands you a small blue bag, "We didn't have much time, but me and Bailey went to the store and picked something small up for you both, we hope you like it" Meredith smiles.

Arizona opens the bag and pulls out two items of clothing. A blue babygrow with Dr Hunk written across it on a scrub top and a white onesie with "relax my parents are doctors" imprinted on the front.

"Thank you guys, these are super cute!" You say excitably and you embrace both Bailey and your Mom.

Meredith plants a kiss on your head and pulls Arizona in for a tight hug.

After you've thanked everybody for coming and eaten wayyyy too much cake, Arizona drives you both back to her house and you both head to bed. She snuggles up to you and you ease into her.

"I love you Grace, and I love you so much baby boy!" Arizona exclaims.

"We love you soo much Arizona, or should I say, Mama Robbins?" You laugh.

She sidles up closer to you, and you fall asleep entwined in her, one of the things you love about Arizona, is she never lets go, you know she holds you so closely so that you feel safe, and she will protect you and your unborn child from every danger.
