tw: toxic friendship

Best friends forever is something you once said
You were my rock when no one else was there
But all of that change one day

How could he do that to her? Ej her best friend had finally done enough so that even Nini didn't want to be his friend anymore. They used to be the closest of friends, but then High school happened. Their friendship really suffered under what happened, but they worked through it.

A few tears rolled down the brunette's cheeks. "Hey, don't cry, he doesn't deserve your tears." Ricky wiped away her tears before pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I just don't get how he could do this to me." The curly haired boy wrapped his arms around his girlfriend. "Nini, you and I both know that since Highschool started he wasn't your real friend. This was going to happen eventually."

That made her cry even more "What did I do for him to let me fall? We used to be so close and he just suddenly choose someone else over me."

I used to see you every day
used to hug you every time
you were just always there, for every moment of my life

looking back at all the memories we shared

"We did everything together. From one day to another that stopped." She continued to cry into his chest "People grow up, maybe you two just weren't supposed to be friends. You have me now." "I love you I really do, but you're not like Ej. Ricky he was there when my mom died, when I got bullied in Middle school, when I broke my foot and just for everything that happened. He was all I had after my mom died."

He tightened his arms around her "I get it, but babe you have to move on." She shook her head "I can't, he is to important in my life." "Was, he used to be important in your life. You have to let go. Be honest with yourself were you two even really friends in Highschool?" Nini was quiet for a minute. "I thought so back then but looking back I guess we weren't."

Ricky pressed a kiss to her forehead "See what I mean with you have to finally let him go." She nodded "I guess I was just hoping I could forget all of that and just go back to Middle school." "I get it, but that won't happen, and you know that" he said.

A few days passed since Nini's and Ej's big fight. The brunette was alone in her and her boyfriend's apartment since he decided to go grocery shopping. She was currently laying in her bed trying to fall asleep. It might only be 7 pm, but Nini hasn't slept in days. Well, she hasn't slept for more than a few hours since the fight. Suddenly tears started coming out of her eyes and she had no way to stop them. "Why did you do this to me? I thought we were best friends."

Flashback

"Hey Neens, I know we haven't talked in a while, but I've been busy." Nini just smiled "It's alright, I was busy too." Ej nodded his head "So I was wondering if you did the homework for History yet?" The brunette nodded a bit confused "You know I always do my homework early, why?" "Would you mind letting me copy it?" She sighed "I guess not." She reluctantly got out her homework. This was the 5th time this week he asked her to copy her work.

"Happy birthday Ej" She stood in front of his house with a present and a cake. "Hey Nini." He let the girl into the house. Nini immediately noticed that everything was set up for a party. "I thought you said you won't celebrate with friends this year." Ej nodded his head "I won't, this is all set up for my relatives."

She smiled "Well then I don't want to bother anymore. I hope you like your gift and I'll see you tomorrow at school." Right after the girl came back home she got a message from one of her friends sending her a screenshot of Ej's invitation to his birthday party. That night was the first time she realized that maybe they weren't best friends anymore.

Flashback end

Everyone around me told me to keep an eye on you

When Ricky stepped into the apartment all he heard were loud sobs coming from the bedroom. He quickly placed the bags in the kitchen before running up the stairs to check on Nini.

He found her sprawled out in the bed. "Babe?" She turned her head to face him "I'm all good." He shook his head before collecting her in his arms. "No, you're not, I heard you cry when I came home." That was enough for the small brunette to break down again. "He just used me" Nini said while tears were streaming down her face.

„I know baby, but it's all over now." "I was so stupid. From the day we meet someone always told me he wasn't a good person, but I thought I knew him better than that." He rubbed his hand up and down her arm to calm her "He was just a bad person, it's not your fault." She shook her head "He just did that because I wasn't good enough for him. I'm an emberasment to be around, I'm to ugly, to stupid and just good for literally nothing."

Ricky cupped her face with hands "Nina Salazar-Roberts, you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen. You just graduated from Harvard you can't tell me you're stupid. Neens you're perfect." The brunette put his hands away from her face "I know you're just saying that. You'll leave to soon and then I'm alone again, just like always."

The curly haired boy knew she was struggling and it was understandable but that was even more extreme than he thought. "Nini I love you and I would never leave you." "No, don't say that. You can't love me, I'm unlovable." Nini tried to get up put he grabbed her wrist. "I love you and no matter what you think or say that won't change. You're also not unlovable, just look at us because I love you and so does your family and your real friends. Ej is an asshole who didn't deserve your pure heart."

We used to hand at your place and watch movies 'til its dawn
But now that all that's gone, I'm wondering if it meant anything to you

"I'm sorry" she mumbled. "For what?" He asked a bit concerned. "For thinking that, but I just can't help it." Ricky pulled her into his arms again and pressed a kiss to her hair. "Don't apologize for feeling what you're feeling. I'd much rather hear you talk about all of this instead of leaving you alone with all of these thoughts."

The couple just sat there for a few more minutes until Nini's tears had dried. "Better?" The curly haired boy finally asked. She just nodded her head.

Later that night the brunette laid in her bed next to her boyfriend. When she turned around, she looked into his face and a tear rolled down her cheek.

When she was sure he was asleep she said "Please don't leave me too. I know I'm worthless and unlovable but just please don't. I can't handle another loss." Ever since the fight her brain just wont shut up, so it's just another day where she falls asleep with her wandering mind.

I wrote this to show how much a toxic friendship can affect a person and how much it can change your view of life.

If anyone was wondering what song that is, I wrote it. It's not finished yet, but it was good enough to write a oneshot about.
