"Shit" Nini just missed the bus, which means she would be late on her first day of her new job. The brunette sighed and decided to just walk there since it would be faster. She was late because she had been taking care of her best friend's daughter, well she's basically her daughter now. Gina, Nini's best friend recently got into a car crash with her husband EJ and they died. They left their 5-year-old daughter Emma behind. Now Nini was taking care of her, that is why she needed the job. She had just gotten out of college and before her best friend died a couple of weeks ago she was planning on travelling the world, but that wasn't possible with a toddler.

She was thinking about all of that so she didn't even notice the car that stopped next to her. When she turned into that direction she saw a curly haired men watching her form inside the car. "Can I help you?" She asked while continuing to walk, she couldn't lose any more time. "No, but I think I could help you." The brunette abruptly stopped "What do you mean?" The curly haired men smiled "Well I happened to notice that you were carrying a folder form the company I work at and I also happened to know that you will be late if you walk there." Nini rolled her eyes "I know that too, but I missed the bus, so I have no other choice. I should probably get going."

And with that Nini turned on her heels and continued walking. "Don't be ridiculous, I can drive you. Like I said I work there too and being late on the first day might not be good." She really didn't want to, but the guy was right. "Fine" She reluctantly get into the passenger seat. "My name is Richard by the way, but most people call me Ricky." She couldn't help but giggle "What are you like a fifty-year-old." A smile formed on Ricky's lips "Nope, that's why I go by Ricky. What's your name? After all we're going to be working together." The brunette nodded in agreement "Nini Salazar-Roberts, well my real name is Nina, but I've just always gone by Nini."

What Nini didn't know is that Ricky didn't mention his last name because he's not just any employee he's the boss. He owns Bowen enterprises. "May I ask why you missed the bus?" He wasn't just asking as her future boss, he was also just curious. "I had to take care of my, well my best friend's daughter. She died a few weeks ago in a car crash along side her husband so now I'm taking car of her. That's why I need this job." She didn't know why she trusted him so much, but somehow, she did. "wow, that's tuff. I hope you're doing well." She smiled "Yay, just a lot on my mind." In that moment Ricky had decided something that might change her life.

When they got to the office building, he let her out in front of it. "I guess we'll see each other around Ricky, thanks for driving again." He just smiled in return. A few hours later right after Lunch the boss's assistant came up to all the employees. "Like you guys know Mr. Bowen will choose his new head designer today. Before he does that, he would like to talk to Ms. Salazar-Roberts though." Nini froze in her spot "Me?" The assistant just nodded. All her co-workers gave her encouraging smiles, because everyone knows the boss is a monster or so they thought.

The brunette still hasn't forgotten about the guy who helped her not be way to late this morning. She was standing in front of the office of Mr. Bowen, her boss. Nini took a deep breath before knocking. "Come in" She slowly opened the door. "I'm so sorry that I was late this morning sir." Her boss started laughing "That's not what I wanted to talk about." That voice, she abruptly looked up and saw Ricky sitting there. Her hands came over her mouth when she realized who she had meet and opened up to this morning. "And I thought we settled on Ricky, come sit down I don't bite."

She slowly sat down opposite of him. "You were definitely more into talking this morning, I'm still the same person you met this morning no matter what my employees say." Nini smiled lightly "I know, it's just a lot to take in right now." A smile formed on Ricky's lips "That's understandable." "I was wondering if you have anyone who you think would be great for head designer?" She nodded "Well Ms. Brown is very good at what she does." She was one of the people Nini got along with very well and she'd love to see her succeed.

After that they just smiled at each other for a few minutes. "Is that the reason you wanted to talk to me?" The brunette asked after a couple minutes. He shook his head "I was going to ask you something." She nodded "Go ahead." "I meant it when I said I was going to, now come on I have to tell everyone who will be the new head Designer." All that was on her mind was that conversation. She continuously asked herself if she messed up and if she is going to get fired now. Suddenly she tripped, but luckily Ricky catched her. "Thank you" She mumbled. "You're all good." Nini still didn't look at him and he quickly noticed that. "You ok? It's like you're a completely different person now. I thought we're friends." She abruptly looked at him "We are?" He nodded "Obviously only if you want to be."

The brunette smiled "Yeah, I just thought I did something wrong." Ricky immediately stopped "God no, it's because of the question I didn't ask you right?" She nodded a bit ashamed. "I'll still ask you the question later, don't worry. My office just wasn't the right place." The relive was visible on her face. A few minutes later the two got to where all the employees were standing.

Nini quickly got back to her friends "How was it?" She smiled "Good, I'll tell you everything later. Let's see who gets to be the new head designer." They all nodded in agreement. "So all of you know that I will be choosing the new head designer today but before I do that I wanted to say that my decision is based of reasons most of y'all don't know, so please be respectful towards that." Every single employee nodded so Ricky continued. "I would like to congratulate Ms. Salazar-Roberts on becoming the new head designer." The whole crowd was speechless and Nini had again covered her mouth with her hands. "Congrats Nini" her friends said, but she still has not processed the news.

„But I told him Sarah should get the job." The brunette whispered to her friends "Well he has his reasons, you probably have an idea what he's talking about." She nodded "Yeah, I have a pretty good idea." In that moment Ricky come up to them "Good day Mr. Bowen." He smiled in return "I guess you guys must be Nini's friends so it's Ricky for you." They all gasped and looked at the small brunette.

"Why Ricky?" They all stared at her with a confused expression. "Well for two reasons, first of I saw your work and its amazing and the second reason is the same reason why you missed your bus." That didn't help her shock "You didn't have to." He shook his head "I know, but I felt like you deserved it more than anyone else. No hate towards your friend, she does some good work too." The curly haired boy she had meet just this morning because she missed the bus turned out to be her boss and now he changed her life. "Nini?" Sarah her friend said. "Oh sorry." A few minutes later Ricky left to do some work.

„He kept staring at you like you're the only girl in the world so now explain." So she did, she explained everything which took around an hour. Since she also told them more details about her now daughter. "So turns out our boss is not the heartless monster we thought he was or Nini changed him." She started laughing "I meet him this morning." "You have a point."

I don't know why but I like it. Do y'all want a part two to this or should I leave it like this?
