"It hurts" the small 5 year old brunette said to Nini. "I'll be right back, let me just go call your dad."

The little girl nodded her head and snuggled herself into her blanket. The brunette left the room to call her brother Ej. "Hey Neens, is everything ok?" She was currently babysitting her niece because her brother was on vacation with his wife.

„Anna is in pain. I think I should go to a doctor with her." "Of course, let me know what she has." With that she hung up and walked back to her niece to pick her up.

Nini had just moved back to New York. 5 years ago, she finished college and had gone to California. She came back her for her brother and niece though. "Auntie is going to go to the hospital with you, is that ok?" Anna nodded her head. A while later they sat in the waiting room of the hospital waiting for their turn. "Anna Salazar-Roberts" the nurse said.

The two went into the room where a woman was waiting. "Hell Anna, my name is Dr. Brooks." The small brunette is a bit shy, but she smiled a bit. "I heard your stomach hurts, is that true?" She nodded her head. "Do you mind if I look at it?" Dr. Brooks asked her. Anna looked at Nini, who just nodded her head.

After the doctor examined her she looked at Nini. "I'm pretty sure she has an appendicitis, but to make sure I'd like to get the second opinion of a colleague." The brunette nodded her head "I'm fine with that." 5 minutes later Dr. Brooks walked back into the room followed by a curly haired man.

„Ms. Salazar-Roberts this is my colleague Dr. Bowen." Her breath got caught in her throat. They just stared at each other for a minute.

Until Anna started crying. "It hurts Nini" She placed a hand in her hair to calm her. "You're Anna, right?" Ricky asked her. She just nodded her head. "And your stomach hurts?" Again, she nodded her head.

"Can I look at it?" Anna shook her head "It hurts." "It'll stop hurting if you let the doctor look at it" The brunette told her niece. A few things lead to another and 3 hours later Anna was in surgery.

Nini was currently sitting in a waiting area when Ricky walked up to her. "Hey Nini" She looked up "Hi." "Is that seat taken?" He asked her. She shook her head, so he sat down next to her. "I didn't know you still lived in New York." She shrugs her shoulders "I moved back her a few weeks ago to spend time more time with Anna and her parents."

"So she's your Niece, I'm guessing?" Nini just nodded her head. Ricky sighed "Nini I'm sorry for what I did. I shouldn't have cheated on you or left you." The brunette nodded her head "You hurt me, a lot."

He nodded his head "I know, and I regret every single thing I did. I should have just told you the truth all these years ago." The two used to date all the way through College just to break up right before graduation because Ricky cheated on Nini and got the other women pregnant. "And the truth is?"

She looked at him for the first time in their conversation. "My parents forced me into a relationship with her and since you didn't want them to know about us I had no reason to say no. The whole pregnancy was planned by my mom after she found out about you, she wasn't actually pregnant."

Nini was speechless "She wasn't pregnant?" The curly haired man shook his head. Tears started rolling down the brunette's cheeks.

„Don't you have to work?" "I'm on my break, which is about to end soon. I just have one question for you." She nodded her head while trying to wipe her tears away. "I checked Anna's birth certificate, since she has never been here and there it said her name is Hannah. Is there a reason why you all her Anna instead of Hannah?"

Nini froze, but quickly recollected herself. "Nope. It just kind of happened."

That was a lie and a really bad one too. "I have to go back to work, but I'll check on you and Anna when I'm off."

Anna had gotten out of surgery and now she was asleep. Nini was on her way to get some coffee when she bumped into Ricky and a woman. "Omg Nini" The women said. The the brunette recognized her as her best friend from California.

„Marie, omg. I didn't think you'd be here." She started laughing "I was here to meet with an old friend from my residency here in New York." Nini just stood there with out any idea what to do. The one person who knew the whole truth apart from her was currently standing next to the one person who wasn't supposed to know.

„Neens you have to come back to California in the holidays. My brother is getting married and if you don't show up he'll kill you." "I'll gladly fly out to go to the wedding of my favourite member of your family." Marie looked offended "Just because he was so overprotective over you." Nini giggled "Oh hell no, because he was like a brother to me while I couldn't see my real one."

The two women looked at Ricky "Why couldn't you visit Ej?" Marie gasped "He knows your brother?" The brunette nodded her head "I guess it's time to tell you. Marie Ricky is my ex-boyfriend." The women just looked at them with a horrified expression on her face.

„Ricky is the guy, who left his pregnant girlfriend to be with the person he cheated on his girlfriend with."

The curly haired man's eyes widened in shock "Nini wasn't pregnant." "You never told him?" Marie asked Nini, who just shook her head. "I'll leave you two to talk and go check on Anna." The two walked to an empty room.

There was an awkward silence until he spoke up. "You were pregnant?" With tears in her eyes, she nodded her head. "Is Anna-" she cut him off "No, she's my niece. I lost ours."

Without hesitation he wrapped his arms around her small body. "I should have never left you. I'm so so sorry for what I did, can you forgive me or at least think about it?" She nodded her head "I wanted to tell you the day you broke up with me." He just kept his arms around her while she continued talking.

"We call her Anna and not Hannah because our child was supposed to be called Hannah too." Even after Ricky hurt her, she still saw him as the person she used to know. "I should have been there for you" To that Nini only nodded her head. "Let me try to fix this, to fix us."

Her eyes widened in shock "You hurt me, a lot. Why didn't you just reach out as soon as you knew the truth?" Ricky raised an eyebrow "You blocked me, so I never tried to call." She shook her head "I never blocked you, I just wanted to I don't know test if you would still call me." "I'm such an idiot."

That made Nini giggle "At least we agree on something and yes I'll give you a chance. Although you hurt me, I also missed you." The curly haired men kissed her forehead. "There is more to the story though" She barely even whispered.

„Do you want to tell me?"

„I was 2 months pregnant when I found out and I wanted to immediately tell you. Regardless of what happened I wanted to keep the child. That's how I meet Marie, she was my doctor. She died while I gave birth to her, but I could still see that she had your hair. The same curls."

More tears escaped Nini's eyes, which Ricky quickly wiped away.

6 months have passed since Nini and Ricky got back together. You could imagine how happy Ej was about that. The short answer is that he hated it, but for his sister's sake he accepted it.

They were currently on the couch of their apartment watching a movie. "Ricky?" The curly haired man looked at his girlfriend and smiled. "Yeah?" She nervously shifted in her seat "I have to tell you something." He grabbed her hand and moved his thumb over her palm. "I'm all ears."

The brunette took a deep breath "What would you say if I would be pregnant?" His eyes widened in shock "You're joking." Nini pulled out a pregnancy test and shook her head. Ricky immediately pulled her into his arms "I couldn't be any happier with what you had to tell me."

She giggled and kissed his cheek. "Marie made me an appointed tomorrow and I want you to come. I will not take "no" as an answer." He looked disappointed "How could you even think about me not wanting to be there?"

Nini kissed him "I'm sorry Mr. Bowen. Can we watch the movie now?" He started laughing and nodded his head.
