It was a normal Sunday. Ricky was at his best friend's house and the two of them were playing the piano. "No Neens. It's definitely a c not a d." The brunette rolled her eyes "You might be my best friend but that doesn't mean you aren't stupid. Who of us actually learned how to play the piano?" Ricky shrug his shoulders "You, I guess."

Nini had a smile on her face "What's up with you anyways? You're never this well spacy." This took the curly haired boy by surprise "I'm not spacy or whatever you think I am." She glared at him "And I never write songs. Ricky I've known you since we were five, so over 10 years. Lying won't work with me." He sighed in defeat "Ok so maybe I am spacy."

She smiled lightly "Good start, go on." "I've been thinking about asking you something for a while now" He nearly whispered, but Nini heard. "Well why don't you ask me?" He swallowed hard "You will think I'm crazy." She put her hand on his hand "Ricky nothing you say is crazy. Just tell me."

Ricky nodded his head before taking a deep breath. "So I've been uhmm well-" He cut himself off.

"You're nervous" She stated. "You sound like Ej when he asked me out the first time."

The brunette started laughing, but when he didn't join her, she looked at him. She noticed the look on his face and her eyes widened in shook. "You were going to ask me out, weren't you?" He shyly nodded his head.

Before he could do anything, she had thrown herself into his arms. The curly haired boy had just barely enough time to catch her. "I've been waiting for you to ask me that for nearly two years now." He looked at her with wide eyes but with a smile on his face. "Can I take that as a yes?" Nini nodded her head "Yes, I'd love to go out with you."

The next day the two of them walked into the school hand in hand. It wasn't anything unusual for them, but this felt even better now that they knew the truth about each other feelings. After He kind of asked her out the two of them talked for hours about why they haven't noticed or why neither said anything sooner.

One thing Ricky didn't ask her though was if she wanted to be his girlfriend. For two reasons he didn't. Reason one is that he wanted to ask her in a more meaningful way and reason two is that he knew Nini liked to take things slow. The thing he did not know though is that she has been hoping he would have asked her that evening.

„Can y'all just start dating already!" Gina and Kourtney yelled through the hallway. That made the brunette blush, and the curly haired boy gripped her hand even tighter. "But seriously best friends don't hold hands." She looked at Ricky and smiled "Well apparently they do now." With that she walked away from her three friends but not before giving Ricky a kiss on the cheek. „I can't get over this. They act like a couple although they aren't even dating." He smiled to himself.

What they don't know can't hurt them.

At Lunch he sat down next to his best friend or nearly girlfriend. He isn't quite sure what to call her, but he is gonna change that soon. "I was wondering if you're free on Friday?" He asked. She looked up and him and immediately smiled. "Well, I was going to go on a date, but I guess spending time with you is more fun."

The whole table gasped. Internally the two teens were dying of laughter. Although none of this was planned it was hilarious. "Who would that date be?" "That is a secret." Gina looked at Kourtney before looking back at the small brunette.

"You are going on that date." She looked at Ricky "Sorry Ricky, but we ain't letting her miss that. When is the date?" She smiled "At 5." "Good we'll go to yours right after school and Thursday we'll got to the mall." Nini looked at Ricky, who was trying his best not to start laughing. "Not funny Bowen" Kourtney glared at him. "I'm not even laughing, plus I think Neens would look good in anything." That made the girl blush. "You just cancel your date and go on one with Ricky instead" Ashlyn suggested. She rolled her eyes "Right, as if."

It was Thursday now, and the girls were at the mall. "So, what kind of date is that mystery guy taking you on?" Nini shrug her shoulders "He said it's a surprise. So something more casual I would say."

Gina started laughing "Sounds like something Ricky would say. Remember when we were here to shop for an outfit you could wear for his birthday. You said the same thing." Kourtney smiled "Please Gi. She's just trying to replace Ricky, but Neens I would just get the real thing." It was hilarious to see her friends tell her she should go on a date with Ricky although she was actually already going on one.

Nini was ready for her date and there were five minutes left. Five minutes until the girls would probably start screaming and take pictures. "Guys Ricky is here" Gina yelled when she went to open the door.

The curly haired boy walked into the living room, where everyone else was waiting. Before anyone could say anything, she threw herself into his arms. "woah." "Ricky it's lovely to see you, but out girl is about to go on a date." He nodded his head "I know. Should we go Neens?"

Suddenly all the girls were making high pitch noises. "Omg, I love and hate you at the same time Nini." She started laughing "It was fun to play with y'all." Ricky bend down to press a kiss to her forehead "We should go." Gina nodded her head quickly "Out of the door with you two." They were basically thrown out of the house. "So where are you taking me?" Instead of answering he pulled a blindfold out of his pocket. "It's a surprise, but I promise you're going to like it."

As soon as she was in his car she put on the blindfold. The drive was fairly long "Ricky when are we there?" She asked after 20 minutes. "Now." He got out of the car to help her out. But not before grabbing a basket he had brought. The two teens walked to a small hill, Nini still blindfolded. "can I take the blindfold off?" She asked when they stopped walking. He smiled "Yep."

When the brunette took off the blindfold, she was stunned by the view. You could see most parts of Salt Lake City from up here. "wow Ricky, this place is beautiful." She looked at Ricky, her long-time best friend, who she was on a date with now. He was sitting on a blanket making it obvious that he wanted her to sit down too. Nini smiled before doing as he wanted her to. "So, I brought some food. I know it's not typical date food, but I decided since it's your favourite I don't care." Ricky pulled out a bag of take out and two cokes. She looked excited "You know me to well." The evening went really well. They ate, talked and sung a bit.

Nini had laid down and her head was in his lap. He was caressing her cheek. The cold medal of rings made relaxed her. She had just closed her eyes when he said "Neens can I ask you something?" She nodded her head before quickly sitting up. "What is it?"

Ricky took a deep "Nini would you like to be my girlfriend?" Without hesitating she threw herself into his arms. "Yes."

She sat down in his lap and kept her arms around his neck. "I have something for you" The curly haired boy suddenly said. He pulled a small black box out of his pocket. "What is that?" She had taken her arms of his neck and was now holding the box. "Open it" She did as she was told.

Inside Nini found a silver ring with a small stone in the middle. "It's a promise ring. I was kind of hoping you would say yes to being my girlfriend, so I bought this." She was speechless, but she still knew one thing she could do. So, she pressed her lips to his. "I love it Ricky." They stayed like that for a little while longer. Until the sun started setting. "I should get you home." The brunette nodded her head, but she was to tired to get up. "Are you tired babe?" She was so tired she didn't even realize the pet name he had just called her. He placed her on the blanket next to him.

Then he picked her up bridal style and picked up all the other stuff. It wasn't much, so it worked pretty well. When they got to the car, she had already fallen asleep. Ricky smiled and carefully placed her in the seat and buckled her in. He drove her home and carried her up to her room.

Before he left, he pressed a kiss to her forehead. In that moment he knew that Nini was the girl he wanted to spend his life with. She was the one for him.
