it was the night of the intern mixer, meredith was already dreading the fact that she was an intern, a poorly funded cocktail party was the last thing she needed. she threw on a skin tight black dress with strappy black sandals, some light makeup and headed out the door.
the night consisted of crappy food and some weird dude hitting on her, so meredith left the mixer to go to a bar across the street. she thanked god she just turned twenty one or else she didn't know how else she was going to get through the next few weeks.
"straight tequila, really? you are gonna be sorry in the morning," the bartender questioned
"i'm always sorry in the morning, but tomorrow i start my first day at work so keep 'em coming," she explained
"double malt single scotch please"
a tall, blue eyed, gorgeous haired man walked up towards meredith and sat down.
great another dude trying to pick her up, meredith thought to herself
"so is this a good place to hangout?" his voice was smooth just like the beautiful black locks that sat on top of his head
"i wouldn't know, never been here before," meredith responded trying to not come off too strong
"well you know what, i haven't either, first time here, i'm new in town, never been to Seattle got a job so,"
meredith didn't know how to respond, she really could not afford to have a one night stand tonight, especially tonight.
"huh, you're ignoring me"
"um, trying to," she responded with a straight face
"you shouldn't ignore me"
"why not?"
"because i'm someone you need to get to know to love"
"really?"
"oh yes"
"so if i know you i'll love you?"
"oh yes"
"you really like yourself huh?"
"just hiding my pain," he admits with a chuckle
"so whats your story?"
"i don't have a story, i'm just a girl in a bar," meredith wasn't going to just spill everything out to some random dude trying to pick her up
"i'm just a guy in a bar."

the next morning...
light shone through into the living room of meredith's childhood home, she squinted at it while her body ached with pain. suddenly, a tall naked man emerged from the floor, meredith took a few seconds to process his face and realized it was the guy from the bar. she panicked and immeditely got up to kick him out.
once he left, she immediately rushed off to get ready for her second first day as an intern. as she shook the nerves off as she started her car and drove. on her drive there she couldn't believe she had a one night stand with a dude from some bar, this was nothing like her first day in the UK. meredith had chosen not to tell anyone that she was already a world class surgeon, she planned to just lay low and wait for the board to approve her. as for traveling between the two countries, she would make up an excuse to tell Richard why she would need every other week off.

three days into her internship...
American internship programs were nothing like the ones in Europe. at St.Thomas they actually treated you like a human with emotions and needs, while at Seattle Grace it was living hell. meredith couldn't tell if she was just bored or mistreated but either way she was sick of this. she missed everything back in London; cristina, surgery, the respect of her collegues, she could go on and on. doing scut and being bossed around for 36 hours straight made her want to be the patient being cut open on the table. she couldn't wait to go back to London, only four more days.

i didn't include dialogue for meredith kicking derek out because it would just take too long and i just wanted to get to the point. i also didn't add the whole webber and bailey speeches for the same reason. i decided that i will make derek and meredith meet again in a different situation so just be patient. anyways, thank you for all the support, writing isn't my best skill so i'm glad to see that people are enjoying it. see you the next time i update:) don't forget to vote and comment<3
