meredith looked to her left and realized that derek was naked sprawled out on the bed with one hand across her torso. she immediately turned around and realized what the hell happened last night. she picked her phone up and panicked because they were going to be late for zara's surgery if they didn't get up now.
"derek, wake your ass up now" meredith nudged him slightly
"huh, what, who died?" derek jumped up startled
"no one died stupid, we have zara's surgery in an hour"
"shit"
"yeah, look who's awake now" she said with a smirk
"so are we going to talk about last night, it was very pleasant" he said while grabbing his stuff to go shower
"never happening again" meredith said with regret
"you said that last night and the time before that, are you sure?"
"don't flatter yourself, go use cristina's shower i would like to enjoy a shower, by myself"
"ok boss"
derek walked towards the bathroom across the apartment, it was large and modern, nothing like his trailer in Seattle. he saw photos of meredith and who he presumed was cristina, he also came across merediths huge collection of books ranging from harry potter to medical textbooks galore, she was such a nerd to him.

meredith and derek drove over to the hospital where they prepped and practiced for zara's procedure.
"good morning zara, are you ready to see again?" meredith said with joy
"yeah, staring at nothing all day is kind of a pain in the behind"
"i hear ya, dr. louis will prep you and you will be in the O.R. soon, stay put"
the two surgeons left the room to change into scrubs and start scrubbing.
"are you ready for this dr. shepherd?"
"more than ever dr. grey"
"ten blade"
derek watched as meredith flawlessly dissected across the brain to locate the margins he could've never found. she stepped aside to let him do the resection.
"that was great derek, i'll just removed the remaining tumor from the optic nerve and we are all set"
"perfect"
meredith cleared the optic nerve with grace and ordered for the resident to close up for her. they left the O.R and went back to the scrub room.
"you were like a freaking goddess in there, i mean how did you even find those margins?"
"years of practice dr. shepherd" meredith replied humbly
"but you realize i'm older than you"
"maybe i'm just better than you"
"touché"
they exited the room to go check on zara who was in the ICU.
"no focal deficits, pupils are intact, she will make a great recovery" meredith said while examining zara
"thank you so much dr. grey, you saved her and so did you dr. shepherd" zaras mother said while pulling them in for a hug
"it's our pleasure ms. brown"

"so when do you have to go back to Seattle" meredith asked while eating her yogurt
"this weekend, figured i would explore a little more before i have to go back, how about you?"
"monday, which sucks because that means i have to suffer for two weeks before coming back here"
"did the board get back to you yet, i could write a recommendation letter if you want"
"no they haven't, it's still under review but a recommendation would be nice" she was almost pleading for anything that would get her back into surgery in Seattle
"considered that done, while we have the time lets talk about last night" derek replied with a smile
"theres nothing to talk about, i was horny and you were there" she said while rolling her eyes
"are you sure about that cause last night you were screaming some other things" he chuckled
"shut up, i'm going to throw this yogurt at you"
"just speaking the truth boss"
"anyways, what even are we?" meredith questioned
"friends with benefits or in a relationship, i prefer the second one"
"so you weren't using me this whole time?"
"meredith don't you see it? we are falling for eachother, its like fate or whatever"
"i don't believe in fate"
"so you don't think theres something in the air?"
"how am i supposed to be sure of this, you could be a r4pist for all i know"
"i told you who i am, don't you remember the conversation we had at dinner?"
"yes, of course i do, i just, you don't want to be with me, i am a whole bag of darkness with daddy and mommy issues"
"i don't care meredith, ever since i saw you at that bar my heart was immediately drawn to you. from your wittyness to the way your hair flows, i've never felt this way about anyone, not even my ex wife"
"you know you're really hard to resist right?"
"just try, for me?"
"fine"
derek pulled her in for a hug and they went back to the apartment.

im genuinely sorry for lack in updates, lots of unmotivation and stuff. *******S17 SPOILER******** rip deluca ig, lowkey don't know how to react cause he never was my fav character but i didn't know they were just going to kill him off, i also despised merluca with all my heart so #merderendgame?
