Derek woke watching Meredith snore lightly. He was excited today, they were going back to London to start on the extraordinary research Meredith had pioneered. They were so in love, and he couldn't wait to spend every waking moment with her doing what they loved most, fixing people.

"Why are you watching me sleep like a creep?" Meredith was startled by the dreamy man in her bed until she realized what day it was.

"You snore. A lot. You better figure it out because I refuse to lose sleep while we work on ground breaking research. Your groundbreaking research that you enlisted me as your lab tech."

"You have a lot to say for somebody who's my employee."

"Did I ever tell you your accent is cute? Because it is."

"Well I guess we have to spend more time in London if you want me to keep it."

"I wouldn't mind that, you made me love that place."

"It is a pretty good place, I would've stayed if it weren't for forgetful mother."

"I'm going to get ready now, you should too our plane leaves in a few hours." Derek planted a kiss on her forehead with a sorry look on his face. He knew how much London meant to Meredith and it couldn't have been easy to leave it all behind.

She laid there wondering how her life came to this, it wasn't a bad life, she was just shocked that everything turned out to be fine. She just wished Cristina was here to share it with her and she wished even more to be respected like she was back in the UK. She knew it would have to time though, but right now she had to focus on her medical breakthrough.

The couple got dressed, ate a breakfast consisting of bananas, a few kisses, and cereal out of the box, and headed out the door to Sea-Tac--the place they've considered their second home in Seattle ever since they've been traveling back and forth together.

"Cristina should be here soon, I cannot wait to see her." Meredith squealed, she was so excited to spend the month with her perfect boyfriend, in the perfect city, while having her perfect best friend.

"Yang makes you so happy, probably more than I do." He said so with a smirk, just delighted to see his girlfriend get her sparkle back.

"Well she is like my other half...She's here!" The blonde ran to her friend almost taking her down from the impact.

"Jesus, somebody missed home. Hey Derek."

"Hey Cristina, here let me get your bags Mer." She handed him her two pieces of luggage mercilessly and interlocked her arms with her best friend. She had hope that her life was getting back to where it used to be.

---

After settling back down in the apartment Meredith and Cristina shared, the two laid on the couch with Meredith's head in his lap as he stroked her dirty blonde hair. Cristina was on-call so it was just him, her, pizza, and wine.

"Tell me something." Meredith looked into Derek eyes with a sparkle, yearning for a good story or sweet nothings, he could say anything and she would listen.

Staring back into her eyes he was overcome with emotion.

"Before I met you, I was drowning physically and emotionally, every day was the same--I started it with work and ended it with a bottle of scotch--but you grabbed me out of that cycle and showed me something that I didn 't even know about my career."
