Fishing

Maura and I had not prepared to go fishing. We went to outdoor sportsmen to rent fishing poles and other gear, when I ran into Frankie. Frankie said he was worried about us so his two days he wanted to surprise us with one of his college Buddha's who was heading up this way to go fishing on his boat.

I told Frankie that Maura and I was here to rent some fishing equipment and buy some bait. Frankie introduced me to his buddy, Matt. Maura was walking up with some ridiculous fishing poles. Frankie asks, "Maura what type of fish do you expect to catch those. I don't think we will find fish that big here. I would like you to introduce you to a college buddy of mine, Matt. Matt this is Maura. Matt was coming up here in his boat this way. I told him about your two mini get away and I was going to surpise you for two days. So we came together. We were getting our fishing licenses and some bait. Do you want to come with us? His boat is more than big enough for us all to be comfortable. His boat has a deck below to sleep too." Matt chimes in, "I would love if you two gorgeous ladies will accompany me and Francisco. We were finishing up here and Francisco was going to have us check in on you ladies." "Frankie we will meet you at the cabin in a few. Park his boat, we can launch off from the boat deck. We will be there once we pay for our licenses and some snacks. "
Matt tells Frankie,
" dude your sister is cute but that feels wrong but her friend Maura, is she seeing anyone?" " Matt she is single but go slow, I told you why they are here. She is like a sister to me. If you hurt her, you will be dealing with three pissed off Rizzoli sibs."

Jane and I are driving back to the cabin. "Jane Matt is fine, oh my. " " Maura slow down, if its met to be, it will happen."
Maura goes in and changes real quick just like Matt did. Frankie and I both looked at them and shook our heads. Maura had the same outfit she had when we were in on the fishing boat.
*flash back*
The first time Maura and I went out on a boat to fish for evidence. Our first official fishing activity which we laughed at. I told "Maura you the only person I know that knows were fishing and you wear an expensive sleeveless top and pants on.

*end of flash back *

I chuckled and said "Maura really the same." Maura knew what I was referring to and chuckled. The guys took the snacks we brought and told us to bring a hat and some jackets. We would be back late. We would stop at a waterfront restaurant that only used fresh catches each day.

We got our hats on and tossed our jackets below.

Frankie and Jane went below to talk privately. They knew Matt and I wanted to get to know one another better.

Matt was easy to talk to. He was an accountant and his fishing trips even a few hours out of Boston was relaxing. He always rented a cabin when he comes in the winter to go ice fishing but in the other months, he just slept below in his deck. Each one of us caught a fish or two. We stored the fish in the ice chest and headed towards the water front restaurant. I could tell Matt was enjoying Maura's company. Frankie noticed the same about Matt. They ordered the same dishes as well as the wines they paired with their meals. Frankie and I were starting to feel like a third and fourth wheel on this trip. Frankie and I excused our selves after I spoke to Maura. Frankie and I took an uber back to Maura's cabin. Frankie and I drank more. I told him that her ex showed up wanting to talk to her after seeing us at the food court. We ran into him two more times. The second time was at the gun range. I thought he was going to give up after she saw her targets. I showed him her targets and on her last one she envisioned it was his face. Frankie agreed that was kinda scary but her confidence was returning. She had one rough night but had no other problems. We ran into her ex at a diner pub place. I returned and she was telling him a few things. Initially , his girlfriend thought she was stalking him. Until she walked up and heard my statement, if he didn't leave I would arrest him for stalking. I gave him a count to five or I arrest him. His girlfriend had them leave. We haven't seen him since. I hope we don't for the rest of our stay here." Frankie said, "he be an idiot after you already warned him." Frankie and I hurried and got up when we heard his boat than heard Maura scream. Maura's ex, Chris was outside when he saw Maura kiss Matt. Matt said "Chris ran up on us and hit me after he saw we kissed." Jane handcuffed him and reads him his miranda rights. Frankie call the local authorities to get him. We will need to call the captain again. He asked me to keep her safe and than this idiot. Frankie held onto Chris while the local police interviewed Matt and Maura. I called my captian. "Rizzoli not again." "Captain, we ignored him, I told him if he didn't leave us alone, I would arrest him for stalking. Frankie and I were inside when we heard Maura scream. Captain Matt broke his nose and maybe two ribs." We did nothing wrong. I know you want to see us when we return. I know, it feels like we cannot go anywhere where trouble follows us. Good night captian." "Jane I tired of going places and trouble follows us. Even when we are on vacation. Lets go to the station to sign our statements and take Matt to the ER to have his hand placed im a cast." We returned from ER about four in the morning. Matt and Frankie stayed in the other two bedrooms. "Jane will I ever find love with a man who doesn't act like an idiot. I am going to give up on men for awhile. You and I have been friends, we get along. Maybe we should date , what do you think Jane?" "Maura are you saying you have feelings for me in a romantic sense?" "I don't know Jane, I just know being around you is easier and less complicated." "Maura I don't have an answer to your question right now. I am beat. Lets just go to bed. The guys will be up soon cleaning the fish for brunch and than heading back. Can we table this discussion for later on?" I kissed Maura's forehead like I normally do. She had her back to me while my arms are around her waist. I could tell Maura was asleep. I stayed up for longer thinking about what Jane asked of me. I always felt weird when I hugged Maura in bed and her being nude didn't help, but I never thought of it as just friends only. I know our sleeping habits wasn't normal but it was Maura. Maura was unique and I loved and respected her. Now, I don't know what to say.
