Maura and I ate breakfast and headed to the station.  She signed her statement, went downstairs for a few to talk to
Susie and Samuel's.  She put Samuels in charge while she took several days off with me. Cavanaugh took me aside while she was downstairs.  " Jane you are on a 7 day paid vacation on us. I want you to make sure Maura relaxes.  We know what your first shoot feels like. She will have anger, remorse and frustration all in once. Make sure she sees her parents and Angela before you head out. I need you both back next week on your game." Thanks Captain. I am going to take her to her family cabin about a four hour drive from here. Frankie knows the exact location if you need us further. We wont be contact.  I am makinf sure she will only have her cell and even that will be limited. Again thanks Captain."  We left the precinct and I swung by MA's first because her business was closer to us. We arrived at MA's place. She saw Maura and had her arms open for Maura.  I tell MA about Tommy. Tommy walks in MA hits him in the back of his head. " Tommy Maura is like a sister to you, is that what you think of Jane. I am so embarrassed. " "MA that is gross Jane is my sister. I get what you are saying. Maura I am sorry but you know me." Jane hits him in the back of his head. "MA I  am going to head out to make these deliveries and return with your new supplies you forgot to order.  SISTERS PLEASE BE SAFE." We nodded yes and laughed.
MA packed us up some food for the road and tonights lunch and dinner.  Maura wasn't in the mood to see her mother's.  Jane let's just drive.I will call them while we drive which she did. Hope told her she would go check on Bass for her and see if the contractor did the work correctly. Both of my mother's were glad that Jane and Frankie showed me how to use a gun and felt comfortable around it. Hope told Maura she is going to look into classes too. I told Jane that. "Maura please call your mom with my cell.  I will connect it to my stereo.  Hope please don't seek out a trainer. I am more than willing to teach you and your two other daughters too if they want that.  We can begin when we return the following weekend. Be safe in the mean time. Maura will be safe with me, bye for now. " 
Maura fell asleep leaning on my shoulder.  We arrived a little after one. I woke Maura up. She brought the food in while I brought our luggage, guns and equipment.  I planned on this trip to find a range so she can get back to it and not be scared to shoot a gun.
We secured our guns in the master bedroom.  I already knew where I was sleeping to make it easier for Maura to sleep.

We ate lunch and went for a walk on a nearby trail with our guns in our holsters and water. I could tell Maura was already scared when she put her glock in her  waist band (iwb).
We walked for about an hour. We didn't shoot in the open because I  wasn't familiar with the laws here but knew our concealed carrier license was valid here.

We headed back to the cabin and secured our weapons. Maura wanted to go get a hot rock massage so we did. I drove my jeep to the spa. We had a couple massage that relaxed us both.  Maura got a pedicure and manicure while I was looking up local gun ranges in this area. I found two. One was a indoor/outdoor range. I called and made reservations for three tomorrow.

Maura looked so relax and had a huge smile.  I knew that look. "Maura where are we going to shop ?" " Jane I need to find some new sleep wear and some shoes and outfits won't hurt either. " "Maura why don't you drive us there."This week was for Maura to regain her confidence back. "What I get to drive your baby. You feeling okay?" " Yes, stop while you ahead before I change my mind on you driving and us shopping or I mean you shop and I carry your bags." Maura hugged me and we went to a new store that wasn't here the last time we were here. Maura bought like 20 night shirts,  4 new blouses, two designer jeans, one designer jeans for me which I didn't know, six new high heels, three running shoes, a pair of addidas shower slides on for us. We forgot to pack our shower slides.
Maura felt like cotton candy and fudge so I bought that for her and two large bottles of water. We sat for awhile so she could begin on her cotton candy.  I told her I didn't want it in my car. I recall the last time,  we got that.

*Flash back*
Maura was like a little kid when she was at any carnival we came across.  She always had to get her corn dog, soda and cotton candy. She had finished all except her cotton candy. "Oops, Jane,  I will pay for the stain to get out of your carpet." I was driving and instead of what she tore off to place in her mouth,  the wind got a hold of it and it fell on my floor board.  It made a huge mess in the summer time in Boston.

*end of flash back*
We finished our food and headed back to the cabin which she drove again after we stopped at the grocery store to pick up a week of food  to make.
We took nap on the couch.  Maura and I was sleeping side to side and I had my arms around her.  We both slept well. We were awaken by a knock on the door.  I opened the door.  It was Maura's ex boyfriend who cheated on her.  "I saw you at the food court today.  I figured I drop by to see if you two ladies would join me for dinner." Maura stated,  "Chris sorry but Angela made dinner for 2 only. When you broke up with me, it wasn't easy for me but got through it. I have no desire to spend any time with you now nor in my future. Please leave,  you are on private property which gives me the legal right to shoot you. I already shot one-man this week, let's not make it two." Maura closed the door on him. I was shocked with her and knew my buddy was getting her confidence a little at a time. I smiled at her. "What,  you know I know you never liked him." "Maura true he was a jerk and treated you awful. I just never thought you would do that.  You go girl."
Jane warmed up dinner while I uncorked the wine and poured us two glasses and placed the bottle on the coffee table. We sipped our wine and turned the tv on to hallmark channel.  Maura and I agreed on a  Christmas movie. We fixed our plates and brought them to the couch area with the tv trays we bought last time.  We finished our food, paused the movie, cleaned up the kitchen,  restarted the movie and finished our Rosé.  We finished the movie. Maura said,"I might as well break un these bad boys (night shirt)." I changed into boston pd shirts and black pd shirt. Maura came closer to and had her head near my underarm. We nodded off to sleep.
