Maura continued to grow with her confidence with her own gun. She purchased sig Sauer  and a glock 19 as her secondary 9mm for herself. She added a lights to them.

On our days off, Maura was finally allowed to shoot at the police range. We sometimes go there for her to compete with several of the officers.  Most of the time, we went to a public indoor/outdoor range.

One night, I got a late call from her around 3:30 in the morning.  Jane someone is on my home, I  am just letting you know.  I gotta go.
As soon as I hung up with Maura, I called for a car to meet me at her home.  I was thirty minute drive from her home. I knew her alarm company would dispatch someone, but I  wanted someone from our precinct that she was familiar to be with her too.
I remove my sig and took an extra magazine with me. I had no clue what or who I would see in my home. I had racked the sig and headed downstairs when I heard whispers.  I knew at least two people were in my home. I didn't turn on my light on my gun yet as Jane and Frankie taught me. I yelled them to get out of my home.  I never told them I had a gun. These two men just saw me as a women in a robe with no slippers on. One man came closer to me with a knife in his hand in a threatening manner. I shot him in his abdomen and he went down. I took cover behind my book case when his partner realized I had a gun and knew I knew how to use it. He shot at me a few times. One bullet grazed my left arm. I shot at him in his neck. I was aiming elsewhere but the bullet moved my shot off my targeted area. Two officers busted in my front door and one through my back glass sliding door. The one in the rear killed the man I had shot at. The officers handcuffed the other man.  Jane shows up and is pissed. "You fuckin idiot, she was trained to kill. You lucky she kept you alive and is patching you up until the medics arrive. She normally works on corpses. " Maura cleared her gun and handed it to me." I handed it to one of the officers to bag. Captain Cavanaugh and the governor called to make sure she was safe. Frankie,Tommy and Korsak showed up to temporarily fix the front door. A glass company came out to fix the broken pane. We stayed to help clean up the debris after they were finished with the crime scene. "Maura ita going to be a long day for you. I will go with you when you sign off on your statement.  I am glad your alarm system recording kicked in when the alarm went off." "Jane yeah, and they got  a nice view of me being naked too until I got my robe on." We all laughed.  Tommy being Tommy, "I want to see. " Frankie hit him in the back of his head. "Bro you never learn.  You could think that but don't say that. " Jane hit Frankie in the back of his head. "You idiots, she is like your sister, wait til I tell MA about your thoughts" and laughed at her brothers.  " Maura you might want to rethink your sleep lack of clothing for now on. If not, have a long shirt in bed with you. "  " Jane you are right, after I sign my statement,  I will go buy some long shirts." "Maura Frankie will be here while we are gone.  Cavanaugh said he count it as in the job when the contractor comes in with your new door and frame. Maura they had to use a hammer to get in. Your front doors are good quality doors. " "Yeah, they don't make door like that anymore. It was the original door my nani had. Frankie please have them install them to fit my closet doors in my office and yoga studiom I don't want to get rid of them.  I will donate the other doors to habit for humanity.  Jane I am glad you had me purchase a second gun so I never be without one."
Frankie I am going to stay the night. I know she is frazzled having to use a gun to keep herself safe. We do this everyday but this is not her everyday.  I am just glad she finally was willing to learn how to use a gun.

Everyone left.  Maura and I got some mango juice and two bottles of water and went to her bedroom. She switched out her magazines on her night stand for her glock 9mm magazines with two extra magazines and a box in her night stand. She washed up. I entered the bathroom.  I joined her on the ground, reassuring her she did the right thing and she is safe because she did what Frankie and I have been training her to do. "You know once MA, Constance and Hope find out they will want to see you. I know Paddy knows by now. I really don't see those two men having a trial. Paddy will have them killed before they make it to trial. You and I both know that no one gets away from hurting his baby girl. You saw what he did to your last boyfriend for cheating on you. The cheating is nothing like what these two men and what they were going to do. I am just glad you are okay." I helped Maura to bed and removed my shoes and jacket.  I was in my night clothes already. I held Maura all last night, rubbing her back and her arm til she fell asleep snoring in my ear. I just chuckled , kissed her forehead and nodded off to sleep.
