Maura asked me if I could teach her more not to be afraid of my weapons. I  was doing it a little at a time because I  knew how afraid she is of guns. I even purchased a replica blue gun that gun owners use as training for pulling it out safely in a holster. Today, was her next lesson to disassemble it safely and clean it.  Later on, she finally agreed to go with a gun range she had joined before we went on our mini vacation.  We stopped by a gun shop to buy some boxes of ammo and a pack of targets. Maura drove us to her country club range. I had removed my bag and locked box that had two of my personal guns. 1911 Springfield and glock 17. The range guys tried to tell Jane it
was illegal for her to have extended magazines. They noticed she had two shorter magazines for each of her guns. The guy was getting real cocky with her.  Jane identified herself as a detective with the Boston PD which allows her to have extended magazines for any of her handguns she brought with her. "Maura joined this gun range so she can get comfortable with guns. I would like you to bring me a sig Sauer and shield so she can try those out in 9mm. We will be using this range for two hours hopefully without interruptions. You know how important it is for a new shooter to be comfortable." Jane dismissed the guys. Jane told me to put on my earmuffs and eye protection before actually entered the shooting range. The guys brought the guns. Jane slide the sig sauer and told him to please remove this from her slip. "THIS GUN SLIDE NEEDS REPAIR.  I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU GUYS DIDN'T CATCH IT. THIS COULD OF CAUSED DANGER TO HER AND ANYONE ELSE NEAR HER." The guy was humiliated but at this point Jane didn't care. Jane practiced me with her glock how to handle it properly. She showed me how to load one magazine and had me do the second one.  She showed me a few stances and said to get comfortable. I needed to find the stance for me. Maura found a slide angle was best for her. I had her place the magazine in and  she helped me place my fingers so I wouldn't get them pinched. I missed the target for the first several shots. She gave me some relaxing tips but to keep my hands and straight. Some of the guys took notice of Jane teaching me making remarks. Jane ignored them and continue to assist me until I got more comfortable.  She called the range guy and removed the magazine and cleared the gun before calling the range guy to return. Jane was irritated on how poorly they took care of their rentals. I knew she would have  a co-worker come and inspect this place after we used it. She had me use her glock. It was lighter and I was shocked on the weight difference.  My arms were getting sore. " Maura please allow me to shut these men up once and for all. After wards,  you are cancelling your membership. I will have you enroll at another range that knows what they are doing." I nodded and gave Jane the look of go ahead.  Jane recognized one of the shooters as an undercover officer. She smiled at a Jane and the group she was shooting with thought they were excellent shooters.  The guy wanted to have a shooting race.  Jane agreed." The winner pays for ammo, targets used, rentals and range fees for two people. I didn't buy ammo or theie targets but they have them here. You can buy me replacements for my next visit-Agree."  They shook hands. " I will use the shorter magazines to make it fair.  We have to go through two magazines which equates to 20 shots. I will let you go first. " The guy did okay but several of his shots he missed the target. Jane's turn.  Jane hit the bullseye each time making a huge hole. Jane locked up her equipment.  We went to the cashier. The man paid and Jane received six boxes of 9 mm and 2 boxes of 40mm and a pack of targets and our range fee was paid. Jane asked me to go to the car and to lock up her bag in her trunk and to drive to the gas station and to wait for her and call in this code to this address.  I identify yourself and tell her two officers inside one has her badge. The other one is off duty and be specific what i am wearing and look like. I knew this wasn't go to go well.  Jane kept three of her extended magazines and her extra magazine was loaded into glock. The undercover officer called for back up and gave Jane an extra vest. Jane was the ladies back up. Jane asked all the cashiers and others to stay behind and get low and stay low. The undercover and Jane knew that they wouldn't have time to get everyone out safe.
It appeared this country club range was using stolen guns as rentals that were inferior. They also had shipments of stolen ammunition, and other equipment. The two employees and owner were not going to go quietly.  Back-upwas able to open the side door and get all the shooters out safely and to stay with these officers until it was safe to go to their vehicles.  Some of them identified themselves as off duty from another state but they still asked everyone to stay still.
The owner shot at the agent and missed. I shot twice.  One hit his arm which made him to fall and drop his weapon.  The other two acted like it was a shoot out in a western.  The agent killed the first employee and I shot the second one in his abdomen. The scene was cleared safely. I asked the officer to ask for Maura to come and to bring my first aid from my car. I told the agents she was a medical examiner for Boston. She could get the two medical help quicker before the medics got here. My captain arrived and I cleared my off duty gun and handed it to him as evidence.  "Jane vacation and you still involved with the medical examiner too who is on vacation. Jane you be on paid leave and needs to be at internal affairs with Maura in the morning." Jane waited until Maura was done. Jane told the agents to arrest the two range guys. Something about them didn't sit right with her. The agent identified  herself as Agent Lisa Morris. "Jane thank you for backing me up. I shouldn't of been here by myself but my partner was stuck in traffic. We heard they were going to move their equipment during business hours. I didn't want to miss them. "
" Agent Morris, I  have been there and understand. I am just glad that Maura finally wanted to get actual practice in and was a member of this place and got her refund while others most likely won't. Before I  knew you were actually working.  We know we never off the job. See you at the trial. "

Jane told Maura that she had an 8:30 morning appointment at INTERNAL affairs tomorrow case until they finish the interviews with us both." "Jane okay, I  wish we wouldn't of been here but that cannot be changed. Let's get cleaned up inside before we leave.  We have to ask the agent in charge though if we can." We got cleared to get cleaned up. Jane secured her other weapon in her jeep properly.  We went to a taqueria to order food to go. We headed back to Maura's to eat.
I ALWAYS bring my locked box to secure it at her home.  I used a rfid one for her home and have given her the combination over ride just in case she needs to get to my weapon for safety reasons if I am in the bathroom.
After eating, we got
in the hot tub and shower than bed.  Jane cuddled with me. Maura woke up in the middle of the night screaming.  She was having  a bad nightmare from earlier. I knew we would be staying at each other's places for awhile. I just held her reassuring her, she was safe and I  keep her safe. I got up to get her a wet towel and some water and  two tylenol. She drank the water and laid back down but this time rested her head on my stomach.  I just rubbed her back lightly until she fell asleep.
