"Stop speaking like a pirate, Liam. You're no pirate," his words made me step back a little as he slowly moved towards me. I admit, he surprised me with his words but I can't accept something in ways of romance. I have better priorities so I played along with him hoping he'd see my motif out of the marriage thing.
"That'd be a rude way to ask a lady's hand, Liam. You're no good!" Hilda uttered and hit Liam on his shoulders, we both laughed and left Liam hanging by the edge.
He shook his head as he made his visions upon us. "I'm serious," he said.
"And so am I, Liam," I answered without hesitating. The look on his eyes was deeper than I imagined. He was serious about the marriage, I never thought he had his feelings way too far that I labeled it as sister-like feelings but it wasn't.
He was stunned to hear my answer even though I didn't know how to react. "Let's stop with this marriage thing and get on with the money," Hilda approached.
I sighed in secret when the topic was officially closed but I need to deal with the awkwardness that existed between Liam and me. We exited the market and started to walk our way home. Normally, he would walk me to the house just like what he's been doing over the years.
The silence kept on bothering me as we walked so I decided to speak. "Mom told me I should go home before sunset," I started.
"Looks like the obedient daughter is running late," he answered, he was just staring forward and not minding to take a glimpse to whom he was talking to.
"She said she had something to disc-"
"I know you know I like you,"
I stopped walking when he interrupted me as I was speaking. This is the moment I feared that would happen. I don't want our bond and friendship to end just because of some romantic feelings which shouldn't be entering the dome of our lives. "Liam, let's not hurry up things that can be set aside,"
He turned to the side to face me. "It's not that I don't like you for who you are or what, I just don't have time for this matters," I added.
I expected him to get angry but he just smiled showing the small indentations in his cheek. "I'm not forcing you to mutually feel the same for me, I just want you to know that... I'm serious," he spoke and looked at me in the eye.
"I'm not seeing you as a mere person, Ella. Not a sister figure or somewhat family sort of meddling, I see you as a woman, a lady I want to be with f-for the rest of my life."
I find it amusing, someone confessing their love to me but I also think it's unnecessary for someone like me who had no thoughts of being involved romantically with someone. After hearing his words I kept still and stayed silent as I had no idea how to react or respond. I just gave him a soft smile which lifted up his mood. "Don't go smiling around like that,"
He said and pulled me towards him, I bump into his chest and felt the warmth of his care. I wasn't sure of what I felt but I don't want to hurt him. Hilda was right, I think it'd be impossible for me to find someone like Liam. "Can you at least keep that smile for me?" he pulled from the embrace and held my shoulders as he stared at me in the eyes.
