"Eat! The Chief wants you alive when he comes back in two days,"

The soldier who was assigned to guard the prison cell gave us a bowl of porridge and a cup of water. We've been held captive for about two weeks now, the Capital asked for the Chief's presence which explains his absence for the past weeks. Mara and I have been locked in prison because of what happened.

Lane, Lois, and Elisa were released from captivity. They are back to being maids and slaves, on the other hand, I was facing the cell wall since I was prohibited to step outside. I am in the same room with Mara, we promised not to kill each other here and finish one's debt outside these walls.

"I'd rather die than eat that again and again, I feel like trash eating another trash, sitting beside another trash inside this trashy room!" Mara exclaimed as she decided not to eat her given dinner.

"Suit yourself then," I said and started to eat. I was placed at ease when I heard that Lane, Lois, and Elisa were doing fine after what happened.

"What makes them think that this porridge will prevent us from dying here? Do they really think eating their food will make me obey them?" she started throwing questions again while she looked at me while I was finishing my bowl.

"They're not making you obey them, they want you to have at least an inch of strength so when the Chief comes back, you won't die after a few beating," I explained and leaned on the wall after wiping off my mouth with the back of my hand.

"They can't kill me with their beating, it will take them a thousand men before they can take me down!" she boasted off as if she was in the state of proving her words.

Another week passed and the Chieftain was still not in the atrium. Mara was given no choice, she had to eat both her words from before and the meal that was given by the guards or else shell starve herself because of her unreachable pride. I looked at the moon that shines through the windows, it was my only view aside from the iron bars that kept us inside.

"Hey,"

I turned around as soon as I heard someone from behind. It was Elisa. "Hey,"

"Tough life for a tough girl," she said softly and placed her hand on one of the bars.

I pushed my lips to the side and scoffed. "Yeah, I think brushing the walls would be better instead of sitting here like a roasted duck all the time,"

I bluffed to see her smile, I was successful but she wasn't plastering her best one though. "How's Lois and Lane?" I asked.

"They're good, still the same but we were narrowed with some things which is a lot different from before," she answered in a mild and worried tone which gave me a subtle negative feeling.

"What do you mean?" I asked and held one of the bars to get closer to her.
