"Here, the Chief gave us enough canned goods. Eat, we'll leave before sundown,"
Liam started to distribute some food to the soldiers, some died in battle and some were injured. I helped clean them and disinfect them from possible germs that may cause severe damage. Josh stayed inside one of the tents to discuss matters with Joe, his most trusted soldier.
"Hold still, this will hurt a bit," I informed the wounded soldier. He had an open cut from a sword fight.
"Hand me the clean cloth, please," I told the archer who helped me treat the wounded.
I poured the solution of sodium and water on the soldier's wound to disinfect it. He yelped in pain but this will be worth the sting. After cleaning it, I wrapped it in a clean white cloth and made sure that it won't come off. I gave him something to chew on which will help relieve the pain as well.
"Captain," my assistant, the archer from earlier called my name. I came near him and he showed me what he saw.
"My ankle! I can't feel them!" another wounded soldier exclaimed as he held his leg upward.
I went to check on him, rolled up his pants up to his knee, and saw his dislocated ankle. I licked the bottom part of my lips before telling him what to do. "You dislocated your ankle and we need to relocate it,"
His face showed fear, he was already sweating bullets and his pulse was going faster. "W-will it hurt?" he stuttered.
I nodded. "It will but soon after it will completely heal," I assured him to alleviate his worries.
"O-okay," he was shaking, I felt his knees tremble and his lips were getting pale.
I looked behind me and saw a piece of cloth that was in my assistant's pocket, clean enough for the soldier to bite on. "Here,"
I handed him the cloth. "Bite on this,"
He nodded while his eyes shook, his forehead was full of sweat so I wiped it with my sleeve. I gave him an easy smile so that it can lift his spirit up. I held his ankle with both my hands on different sides and started to breathe deeply. "On three,"
"One, two.... three!"
"Ah!" he shouted and the piece of cloth dropped out from his mouth. The soldier closed his eyes as he tried to endure the pain from his ankle, he tried to reach it with his hand but the pain prevented him from bending his knee and moving his ankle.
"Please give him those painkillers after he eats then let him rest for the remaining time before the travel," I ordered my assistant and made sure that the soldier was in a comfortable position to rest.
"Yes, Captain," he answered and went near the soldier to give him the aftercare.
