I bit my lips trying to stop myself from making a sound that would let them know I wept. I can't let him do that, I stared at the door for a long time and thought to myself. My dad's right. I can't stay in here forever, I can't let them reshape their living, my problem is with me and not with them. I blinked thrice while I tried to relax and breathe normally.
I moved my hand, pointed it to the door, and allowed the knob to twist itself. The ice broke into pieces after it stood behind the opening to my room. The ice that covered the frozen door melted within a vast second, hearing them gasp from the outside confirmed that there was a sudden splash of water that came from the wooden door. Josh immediately pushed it open, he swiftly ran to where I hid.
"You're freezing," he uttered as soon as he felt the room wrapped in the cold.
"I am not," I acted stubbornly but he didn't respond.
He removed his thick fur coat and placed it on my back, it covered some of my body parts and gave me warmth. He was shocked and stunned to see the change from my hair. He looked at me in the eyes and sighed, realizing that I was still in the stage of using my abilities. He stood up and grabbed a blanket from my bed, bent one knee down, and placed the blanket on my head. "Here,"
It covered my hair and half of my face. "Come,"
He wanted me to stand up and walk. He held my wrist and assisted me to lift myself but I insisted. I grabbed his wrist as well and stopped him from standing up. "Josh, wait,"
I looked at the door, frightened, scared of what they have to say once they see me. Fearful of what I can do once they start or try to provoke me. "C-can you do me a favor?"
"Of course, anything," he whispered.
I bit my lips once again when I felt it tremble from the fear that started to swathe my senses. "When the time comes that I cannot control myself, w-when the time comes my abilities overpower me.." I stuttered.
"Shh, no, there won't be a time like that. That won't happen," he placed his hands on my face, cupping it as he tried to make me stare at him.
"No, listen. Please, please promise me you'l-"
"No. no, Jill. Stop, I won't make any promises," he responded, cutting me from my words. He dropped his hands beside me and started to stare away.
I held his hands, placing the cold on top of his warmth. "Please, promise me you'll kill me,"
My tears started to flow down my cheeks once again. The blanket on my head slipped down on my shoulders. "Jill, I... I can't," he answered, moving his head, rejecting my terms.
"Please, Josh," I whispered and began to break out. "Kill me, before I kill somebody else,"
Josh sighed as he pushed his hair back, he looked around but I grabbed his hand which made him divert his gaze to me. "Promise me,"
