I didn't mind having second thoughts and jumped directly over the cliff. I dived going towards the water as Josh was shot in his shoulder and fell. I dropped my bow right on the cliff as well as my thoughts about the horses and our stuff.
There was only one thing that entered my mind and that is to save Josh. When I was already in the water, I immediately saw Josh being pulled down by the current. Luckily, it wasn't dark since it was still early noon.
I swam towards him and held his body as I made our way towards the surface. I caught some air and slowly paddled my arms as Josh floated with me. I pulled him to the shore and laid him into the sand.
I went near his chest to hear if his heart was still beating but it wasn't so I pinched his nose and covered his mouth with mine to create an airtight seal. I gave him two rescue breathes and noticed that his chest wasn't rising. I followed it by 30 chest compressions and gave him another two rescue breathes. My feet trembled in fear thinking that what if he died while drowning.
"Oh, finally!" I gulped when I saw him throw up all the seawater he abstained. He coughed so hard and I caressed his back to support him.
"Hey, hey. Are you okay?" I held his face and stared into his eyes. He was still wheezing and had difficulty catching his breath.
He looked into my eyes while breathing rapidly, he gently patted my head. "Y-your...hair," he stuttered.
I immediately touched and looked at my hair and was surprised to see my once black-ebony hair turned to full light-blonde. "Hey, can you hear me?" I asked him.
"Y-your hair... it's," he repeated. "It's blonde, Jill. It's... all of your hair is blonde,"
"Shh, shh. It doesn't matter, we need to get your wound treated, come." I stood up and help him lift himself to stand.
"Ah," he panted.
His shoulder was still bleeding so I decided to let him rest as we take shelter in the woods. I helped him walk, all of our supplies are gone. Fortunately, Gizem told me not to bring my new bow as it may get lost in the way. We hid under the sheds of the tree. Josh sat down on the rock and hugged himself. "Stay here, I'll get some firewood and herbs for your wound,"
He nodded, I rushed to grab some firewood. I also looked for honey to create wax. I went back to the camp and saw pressing on his wound. I came closer to him and wiped off the blood that kept on flowing down to his skin. "Keep pressure on this,"
I blocked his wound with a cloth that would apply pressure to it. I need to make something for his wound to heal, my mother used to work at an apothecary so I had a little knowledge on how to treat Josh's wound.
I assembled the firewood and lit it up using my fire. I had no time to find quartz and make it spark to produce fire. I felt something hot building inside me but I threw that feeling away and started to make the wax.
