the five sat in the cafeteria. it was lunch and sarah was telling bokuto and suki how she got chosen for the planning committee.
when sarah first told them, they were wowed and wanted the girl to tell them more.
myou had just rolled her eyes at the trio, thinking that their excitement was stupid and they were too over excited. she was really just jealous.
akaashi saw her annoyance and didnt comment on it, but thought it was weird since her and sarah seemed close so far.
now they were all seated around the table, myou was sitting across from akaashi with bokuto and suki to her right and sarah on akaashi's left.
"and then the last one was pulled... and it was me! my third nomination!!" the three erupted into giggles.
myou rolled her eyes once again.
"what's up with you?" akaashi asked the annoyed girl, not catching the attention of the other three.
"what?" she asked innocently. akaashi just deadpanned at her, not buying it.
"why do you seem so bugged with sarah getting nominated. are you just jealous or something?"
myou let out a loud laugh, purposely catching the attention of bokuto, suki, and sarah.
"your hilarious, akaashi," she reached over to ruffle akaashi's hair.
sarah tilted her head at the two, confused about what akaashi said that was so funny.
as she was watching myou ruffled akaashi's hair and him doing nothing about it, there was a weird pang in sarah's chest.
———
"i think you like him," bokuto laughed, suki laughing in the background as well.
sarah was on the phone with bokuto who happened to be with suki. she was questioning the weird feelings that she'd get with akaashi but didn't want to call it a crush just yet.
"are you sure?" the girl asked.
"yes, sarah, you like him," suki giggled.
"oh," sarah looked down at her hand. "what do i do?"
"i say confess," bokuto suggested.
"but does he like me though?"
there was silence on the other end.
"er... i'm not allowed to say..." bokuto hesitantly answered.
"oh just tell her!" suki nudged him.
sarah heard bokuto sigh.
"fine. he does."
sarah's heart skipped a beat. she suddenly wanted to know everything. how long he liked her. when he told bokuto. how strong he felt for her.
but she bit back her tongue.
bokuto could be joking.
"really?" she asked, a bit skeptic about what he said.
"yes, sarah, he isn't lying," suki assured her.
"so i should confess then?"
"YES," the two yelled.
"okay, okay, calm down," she told them. "i'll do it at the culture festival."
the culture fest was coming up in the next weeks. sarah and the rest of the committee had decided to do a haunted house in their classroom.
sarah was excited to dress up and scare people, since she loved everything horror.
sarah hung up from the two, and headed down stairs to get a snack.
akaashi was out at the moment with some of the volleyball team, excluding bokuto of course who was with suki.
as she was looking for something to eat, her phone rang.
"tooru..." she read off her screen. "tooru!!!"
sarah and tooru oikawa had become close friends after that one run in on the bus in myagi.
sarah quickly slid open her phone, accepting the video call request
"hi tooru!" she greeted as he appeared on her screen.
"sarah-chan!!!!" he exclaimed. "how are you??"
"i'm okay, just a bit hungry. what about you?"
"actually i'm pretty hungry myself."
a thought then crossed sarah's mind.
"hey, do you want to make cookies over the phone together?"
tooru's eyes lit up.
"of course!!!!!"
and the two began baking away.
———
akaashi walked into his house, greeted by the wafting smell of fresh baked cookies.
'sarah probably baked," he thought to himself, kicking his shoes off.
he heard laughter coming from the kitchen and went to go see what sarah was doing.
the counter was filled with trays of fresh chocolate chip cookies.
akaashi looked over to the table to see sarah on a video call with someone, giggling really hard at what the other person said.
"sarah..."
"oh hey akaashi!" the girl bubbly greeted.
"hi?"
"this is tooru oikawa!! he plays volleyball for aoba johsai in myagi!" she points over to the screen that showed a boy with fluffly brown hair.
"hi akaashi!" he waved.
"hi," akaashi slightly waved back. "hey, isn't aoba johsai the team that looses to shiratorizawa every year?"
oikawa and sarah both gasp.
"how dare you!" oikawa cries.
sarah hits akaashi's arm.
"don't bring that up," she says through gritted teeth.
akaashi just slowly nods, not seeing a problem with what he asked.
"it's okay sarah-chan," oikawa laughed painfully.
sarah nods.
"well i have to go to the washroom..." she says, running out if the room.
tooru leaves the frame and akaashi hears clattering.
after a couple moments, he returns with a glass if water.
akaashi glares at the screen.
"dont worry akaashi. i have a boyfriend so you dont need to worry about me stealing your gal. and she knows it too by the way so nothing to worry about."
"wait how did you kn-,"
"im baaaAAaack!" sarah jumps back into the room.
"sarah-chan!!! that was fast!!!" oikawa exclaims.
"tooru-chan!!! yes it was!!! what were you two talking about?"
"oh nothing," he smiles innocently. and the two get back into what they were talking about, akaashi leaving the room.
