Chapter 3

Sarah's POV:

After Suki showed me around the school, first period was already over. The principal and our first period teacher let us skip our first class so Suki could show me around. But once it was second period, we had to go to class.

We were walking down the hall to our second period, English, when Suki looked over at me. "Teni-chan?" she asked.
"Yes Suki-chan?"
"Do you have any idea of what extra-curricular club or group your going to join?"

Her question startled me. I never really thought about that before. Now that i'm not visiting my father at the hospital, i have  lot of free time on my hands.
At my last school i never really was in any club because i never had the time.

"Its okay if you haven't decided yet," she assures me. "My cousin Yukie is a manager for the volleyball team. She'll probably be looking for an assistant manager soon to look after the team once she graduates. You should do that!" That does sound fun.

When I was younger, my father would take me to volleyball games. He also used to play before he tore his ACL and had to give it up, so I know quite a few things.

"That sounds great!" I say, smiling. Suki smiles back at me.
"Okay! I can take you to meet her at lunch and then she can introduce you to the team after school today." I nod and we reach the classroom.

"Here we are!" she exclaims. Suki leads me into the class and i introduce myself to the teacher. She smiles and greets me and then me and Suki sit down near the back of the class.
A few people come up to us and introduce their selves and everyone seems pretty nice.

Right when the bell to signal second period has started, a familiar boy with messy black hair ducks into the classroom. Its Akaashi!

"Sorry for being a bit late," he apologizes to the teacher. "Bokuto was having some issues, and you know how he is." She smiles at him and accepts his apology.
Akaashi turns and walks toward his seat and looks up and locks eyes with me. My heart skips a beat as he slightly smiles and does a small wave before he sits and pulls out his stuff.

"Ah I see you met Akaashi already," Suki says, snapping me out of my trance. "yes, I met him at the entrance this morning." She smiles at me very widely. "Yay your making friends already!" I smile and nod.

"Attention class!" our teacher walks in front of the class and gains our attention. "We have a new student joining us." she motions for me to stand up. "This is Sarah Tenshi. Please be welcoming to her because its hard starting at a new school not knowing anyone." I stand up and give a tiny wave and some classmates give me smiles and tiny waves back. Then the teacher smiles and goes on with the lesson.

~time skip~

After second period, Suki quickly drags me out of the classroom and down the hallway. We put our stuff away and she drags me again to the cafeteria.
"Lets find Yukie and tell her she has a new assistant manager!"
I sigh and agree and we make out way to a group of third years.

"YUKIE!" Suki squeals, and a girl from the group comes over to us.
"OH MY GOSH SUKI! HOW ARE YOU!" the girl squeals back.
"I'M GREAT, YOU?!"
"AWESOME!"
"THAT'S GREAT!"
"WONDERFUL!" both of the girls hug. 'i see how they're related,' i think to myself.
Suki then remembers why she dragged me there and introduces me to Yukie.

"Yukie, this is your new assistant manager, Sarah Tenshi!" Yukies face lights up and she does a little happy dance.

"Yayyyyy!!! I finally found someone!" she picks me up into a hug and squeezes me hard. "thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! We're gonna have so much fun together," she gushes. I smile and hug her back.

"No problem!"
Yukie releases me, and then starts giving me info.
"From Monday to Thursday they have 2 hour practices every day before and after school! Fridays they work out, we don't need to be there for that, and Saturday and Sundays are break days," she tells me. "Today is Monday so they have practice after school and you can meet them then! Sound good?"

I nod furiously, feeling very overwhelmed.
"I'll meet you at the main gym after school, okay?"

"Okay that sounds great," I say. She gives me a thumbs up, waves by at us and then heads over to her friends again.

As me and Suki walk away, i say "You both are very close." She nods at me and smiles.

"Are you not close with your cousin, Teni-chan?"

"No not really. My cousin lives in  Myagi and I don't see him very often," I explain to her and she nods, understanding me. "I think he plays volleyball tho."

"Ooh thats cool!" Suki says. "Maybe the team you'll be manager for has played them before!"
I think to myself. "Maybe, but the teams are apart of different prefectures. I'll text him later on to see!"
I pull out my phone, checking to see if i have his contact.

Yep i have it! Then Suki and I head to our next class, Art.

~time skip~

I'm standing here, outside the main gym, waiting for Yukie to come and get me.
I was really excited and nervous to meet the team so i rushed down here as fast as i could and i've just been standing here, waiting.

"TENSHI-SAN!" I hear a voice yell. "YOU CAME!!!"
"Did you not think i would come?" i ask.
"No," she admits, looking at the ground. I start to laugh and so does she.

"Okay. Lets introduce you to the boys!"
"Alright," i smile.

Yukie pulls open the gym doors and pulls me in. The team is already in the gym and the nets are already set up.
Yukie excuses herself to go grab her clipboard and I stay still, taking in everything.

On the other side of the gym, about eight boys are sitting in a circle stretching.
The one that appears to be the captain has black spiky hair with frosted tips and kinda resembles an owl. I think it might be the guy that was in the hallway this morning, looking for Akaashi.

Speaking of Akaashi...

The guy next to him has familiar messy, black hair. My heart rate accelerates as I start to realize its him. He glances up and meets me in the eye and he stares back at me.

Akaashi's POV:

We were in the middle of stretching when I look up and my eyes meet a familiar pair of dark eyes across the gym. My heart speeds up. It's Tenshi. What's she doing here at our practice?

Sarah's POV:

Seconds have gone by, and me and Akaashi still haven't broken eye contact. He then smiles at me and I smile back, and then he continues with his stretching.

Yukie comes back and leads me over to the boys.

"Children, gather round," Yukie says. The owl like guy groans. "Yukie, we're not children!!" he whines.
"Yah, whatever," she replies. "Anyway, today we have someone joining us. This is Sarah Tenshi, and she will be our new assistant manager!!!!!"
