AS LOLA WAS MAKING a new pot of coffee to serve to the customers, Rory was waiting for Lorelai to finish reading her essay. Lola had already read it and informed Rory that it was great, but Rory didn't believe her, and said her opinion was biased.
"It sucks. I know it sucks, just tell me it sucks." Rory said as she watched her mother read. Lorelai put the paper down on the counter and turned to Rory with a big grin on her face.
"It's great." Lorelai reassured her daughter.
"No it's not." Rory disagreed.
"It's an A." Lola chimed in, refilling the Gilmore girl's coffee cups.
"Don't lie." Rory shook her head.
"A-plus." Lola said and Lorelai nodded along with her.
"You're my mom, and you're on of my best friends. I can't trust your opinions." Rory groaned. She should've just asked Paris to read it, then the feedback would be 110% honest.
"Is anything higher than an A-plus?" Lorelai asked Lola.
"You have to say that."
"It's an A-plus with a crown and a wand."
"This is not how you raise a child. You don't send them out there with a false sense of pride because out there, in the real world, no one will coddle you. I'd rather know right now if I'm gonna be working at CNN or carrying a basket around it's offices with sandwiches in it."
"Rory?"
"Yeah?"
"It's great."
"Thank you." Rory sighed.
"Coffee...coffee. Okay, what do you want? Eggs, toast, combo? Lola, could you get to work please?" Luke asked as he walked towards the Gilmores and noticed Lola leaning on the counter and chatting with the two. The blonde nodded and began to serve more coffee and take more orders.
"What's the rush there, Zippy?" Lorelai jokes.
"I'm just swamped this morning. I was supposed to have more help but I don't. So order right now or I'm bringing the both of you an egg white omelet with a side of steamed spinach."
"Pancakes." Lorelai immediately said, cringing at the thought of the dish Luke threatened her with.
"French toast." Rory answered after Lorelai. Luke thanks them and turns around to face Jess who looks pissed off the even be in the diner.
"Jess, you were supposed to be down here..." Luke starts, but interrupts himself when he notices Jess's shirt. "What the hell is that?" He asked.
"What?"
"That." Luke pointed to the tee-shirt Jess had thrown on.
"I think that's a shirt, Lukie." Lola teased as she walked behind the counter.
