LOLA JAMES HATED HER home town. From the dance marathons to all the stupid festivals and all the stupid people who were so bored with their lives they felt the need to pry into others. When Lola got her first boyfriend, the town knew minutes after. The second someone moved to Stars Hollow, they gave up their right to have a private life. Stars Hollow was the kind of town where everyone knew everyone's business. In Lolas opinion, it was just one big awful gossiping place. When Lola was eight, she realized she didn't want to live in the small town anymore. She vowed that the second she was eighteen years old she would travel the world. Her first destination would be Italy. After she traveled the world she would settle down in New York, become a lawyer, and own a few cats.
Lola didn't know of anyone else in her town that hated it as much as she did. Sure, Luke Danes sure was a grumpy man and seemed to dislike most people in the town, but anyone who really knew him knew that he loved the town.
Maybe the reason Lola despised the town so much was because she had never seemed to fit in. It wasn't exactly the she couldn't fit in, she just never wanted to. She had two friends, her best friend being Sage Baker, and her other friend being Rory Gilmore.
Sage Baker was a kind and generous human being, but there was more to her. Adults loved her because she was polite and would engage in conversation whenever she had to, but to her peers she was a sarcastic, funny, compassionate and just fun to be around person. She was an Aquarius rising, after all. Lola met Sage in a first grade dance class that was located at none other than Miss Patty's studio. Sage was an amazing dancer whereas Lola was tripping over her feet and trying to follow the instructions that Miss Patty would yell out every now and then. Sage had offered to teach Lola, and the two had been joined at the hip ever since.
When Rory Gilmore first met Lola, the blonde was sobbing on the bench inside of the gazebo. The two were no older than nine years old, and Lola's father had just left her family. Rory had of course went to comfort the devastated girl, offered her half of her pepperoni pizza slice, and brought her to Luke's Diner to buy her a piece of vanilla cake. Lorelai, Rory's mother, was in the diner and as soon as she saw the heartbroken girl she brought her to the crap shack and the three watched movies all night long. Ever since that night in 1991, the James girl and the Gilmore girl had been best friends.
After finding out who her real friends were, Lola still had a strong hatred for the town, but the town became more tolerable. She hadn't told anyone her plan, she just knew that the second she graduated she was leaving. That is, unless she found the right person that made her want to say.
