Chapter 1 - The Decision and The Letter

April 3, 2016. Summertime, 11:27 AM.

Lauren was inside her room, checking the photos of her graduation. She was happy that finally, natapos niya na ang high school, but she was longing for her friends and classmates. Namiss niya na agad ang mga kaklase niya, lalo na ang SSG.

Brielle (MNL48 Belle) just got home from her roadside restaurant at magpapahinga muna siya bago bumalik ng gabi.

"Pinsan, musta ang benta ngayon sa restaurant?" Lauren said as she saw Brielle come inside the room.

"Eto pinsan, malakas ang benta ngayon sa resto. Busy ako sa kusina eh, ang daming orders. Umuwi lang ako para magpahinga. Pinaubaya ko muna sa manager yung mga tasks kasi pagod na ako eh. Oorder ako ng meat products mamaya eh, nagkakaubusan na naman sa resto." Brielle answered.

"I see. Sige pahinga ka muna. Gisingin na lang kita pag lunchtime na." Lauren answered.

"Thanks pinsan." Brielle said, and went to bed. Pretty sooner, nakatulog agad si Brielle dahil sa pagod.

"Kung siya stressed sa restaurant, ako naman stressed sa paglakad ng papeles para sa enrollment ko sa college." Lauren said, blowing air from her mouth. Brielle was sleeping and was snoring.

Thirty minutes later, Rita (Sunshine Cruz), Lauren's mum, called Lauren and Brielle to eat lunch.

"Lauren, Brielle, tara kain na tayo! Nasa baba na rin sina Chef Jane at Daniella!" Rita said.

"Opo ma. Gisingin ko lang si Brielle." Lauren said, at ginising niya nga si Brielle.

"Brielle, gising na. Kain na tayo!" Lauren said.

Naalimpungatan pa si Brielle.

"Ang bilis naman, lunch agad?" Brielle said.

"Oo pinsan, luto na yung ulam." Lauren said. Then, she asked Rita.

"Ma, sina papa ba pati si ate Kate dito kakain?" Lauren asked.

"Hindi eh. Nasa office pa si dad at si Kate, for sure sa labas yun kakain." Rita answered.

"Ah okay po. Tara, baba na tayo." Lauren said. Bumaba na sila at tumungo na sa dining room. Nilagang baka ang ulam nila. Hiwalay ang serving ng ulam kay Brielle dahil gusto nito ay maanghang.

Chef Jane (Elisse Joson) and Chef Daniella (Janella Salvador) are also there, serving the food. They were now the permanent family chefs, aside from working together at their restaurant.

"Mga chef, sabayan niyo kaming kumain ng lunch. Kain na rin kayo! Alam kong gutom na rin kayo at napagod sa pagluluto." Rita said.

"Thank you po ma'am!" Jane and Daniella said. They sat down at nagtanghalian na rin. And they started to eat their delicious lunch.

"So Lauren, talaga bang sa State of Escoda University ka magaaral?" Rita asked.

"Opo ma. Nung last time nagooffer sa akin yung mga other colleges sa Escoda pero hindi ko tinanggap." Lauren replied. "Actually mum, nagoffer din ang University of Promenada tsaka Southwarken sa akin thru e-mail, pero ayoko."

"And why not? Prestigious school naman yun ah. At chance mo na yun para makapunta sa Promenada City!" Rita answered.

"Mas kailangan ako ng hometown ko ma. Ayokong lumayo dito ma. Kaya kong maging independent, but I don't want to do it." Lauren answered.

"I see. No pressure naman kung saang college ka papasok, ang importante, makapagcollege ka. Pero may point ka rin naman sa sinabi mong mas kailangan ka ng city na ito." Rita said.

"Pero ate, have you ever tried to push yourself to your limit?" Brielle asked. "Like you know, yung lumayo ka sa bahay mo?"

"Oo, nasubukan naman na pinsan. Nung 1st year high school ako, tinry kong magstay sa bahay ng isang classmate, kaya naman." Lauren answered. "Then yun, mga tasks ko sa SSG, mahirap, umabot sa puntong sasabog na ulo ko sa stress dahil ang daming project, minsan ura-urada pang kailangan."
