Prologue
"Jenny they've tracked us down. They're going to steal what we have been working on for our entire life." Jenny went up to her husband and put her arms around him and kissed him. "Yes Tom dear. But we can't stop now that we've come so far."
Tom Slogan looked down at his wife's beautiful face admiring how calm she was even with the entire kingdom of Twilight surrounding their house.
"What do we do?" he asked desperately. She looked at him, her forehead creasing.
"I had this idea" she said slowly. "What if we fed them to our kids?" Tom grabbed her arm. "What about the after effects? What if it kills them?"
Jenny looked down and tried to keep the fear out of her voice. "Do we have a choice?" Without waiting for his reply she grabbed the locket hanging on a chain on her neck and opened it revealing a tiny black diamond. She went up to her two and a half year old son and made him swallow it, trying to ignore his loud cries at being woken up.
She heard her one year old daughter cry and almost choke as Tom Slogan fed her the other diamond. Jenny knew that it was a terrible idea. What if they never realized that they weren't ordinary? What if they just had a normal life? But when she thought about it maybe it was for the best. The world wasn't ready for what they had created. It was best that they grew up without knowing. If they found out, that would be a matter of destiny, it wasn't her decision to make. Tom was writing something with hurried sloppy handwriting.
She could feel the spells on the door wearing off as more people added their weight to it. Suddenly she heard an unmistakable female voice she had known for years. "MOVE BACK." Jenny wondered if she was here to save them but then she thought back bitterly and realized that there was more of a chance that she was here to take off the spells holding the door.
She looked up to see her husband standing over her with tears in his eyes and she put her arms around him and kissed him for the last time of her life. "I love you" she said softly. The door burst open and Jennifer and Thomas Slogan were killed on the spot
