14. First comes Ash. Then comes Mavis. Ash comes again. Screaming like a savage. #poetry.
Me and Mavis had come to a sort of neutral position. This time I was certain. She wasn't going to help me but she wasn't going to hurt me either. We weren't friends but we weren't enemies either. We were at the stage of where you are just pretty much strangers to each other. That didn't mean we were enemies or friends. You just didn't know and didn't care.
But I was tired of being stuck in this empty white room. I banged at the door.
"Violet, open the door." As I expected no one came to the rescue. Suddenly Mavis's eyes glazed and I banged at the door desperately. If she turned evil, this shape shifter could do anything to me. I would be powerless to stop her.
The door didn't open and Mavis advanced me. I flattened myself against the door and she came to a halt almost nose to nose with me.
"A soul is taking over her
A king is deep within
You need to go on a quest to bring
The anima mea ring
To find it you must fight your way
Through dawn and dusk and dark
It's deep within a lost dead soul
A grave that brings a spark"
She blinked and her eyes returned back to normal.
"What was that?" I said still flattened against the door. She stared at me in horror, understanding flashing across her face.
"A mistake." She said and banged hard on the door. "Violet, I just recited a prophecy. Let us out. It's another twist of fate connected to our destiny."
The door suddenly opened and I fell flat on my back with Mavis falling on top of me to see my sister Ash staring down at me red in the face.
"Am I interrupting something?"
We scrambled to our feet. I was red in the face and Mavis was smiling which didn't really help the situation.
"I heard you screaming so I came back to save you. Do you even need saving?" Ash asked me and then smiled wickedly.
"Shut up." I said.
She hugged me so hard I'm sure at least two of my ribs cracked. "I'm sorry you old goof. That's what I am trying to say. I never really meant to leave you."
"Let me guess......you got lost."
"Umm.........something like that." She said and we shared a smirk which felt pretty good.
"Anyway, we are leaving. Now."
She stared at me in surprise and then looked at Mavis. "What about her?"
"She doesn't care, I don't think, anyway we have a quest." I said and she stared at me blankly and I shrugged.
"No time. I'll fill you in later. Come on." I grabbed her arm and raced past Mavis down the corridor. She winked at me and pretended to grab me but I ducked giving her the peace sign with my other hand.
"Alex, do you have any idea where we are going?" Ash asked me timidly sprinting beside me, keeping up with ease. I had let go of her hand now.
"The exit." I said and I could see her rolling her eyes from the corner of my eye.
"I mean how do you know the way?"
"Umm instinct?"
Ash muttered something about hating my instinct and how she would kill me if we made it out alive. As you all can see she loves me more than anything in the world and has a lot of faith in me. We came to a barred window and I cheered.
"I am a genius."
She nodded and said in an extremely sarcastic tone. "Yeah sure. A geniass. How are you planning on getting through the square bars?" I put my hand on her chin and lifted it upwards. "Oh" she said realizing what I meant and not looking like she approved of it. After the bars was a fairly big enough hole to go through afterwards.......well I guess let's just get to that point without dying and ten decide what to do next.
